Outside of the bedroom window, Jack saw a fair haired boy. His flowing hair and soft face was magical. His blue green eyes gave off a sad look but it wasn't fresh. It was more like a tired sad but not quite depressed.
Jack wanted to get to know the boy. He already knew the basics. The boy is named Ralph and they're in the same school. They've had conversations before just not quite in depth. Jack wanted to Change that.
Jack knew that Ralph left early for school every Wednesday morning. He always took the flowers from Jacks peace lily plant. Two. Two of the best buds that sprouted that week. Jack loved his attention to detail. He doesn't like him or anything... he just.. admires him. Jack shook the thought off and got ready for the day.

Outside, Ralph observed the lilies. He had to get the best ones. It'd be best to keep his friends happy. After he chose the two perfect subjects, an ugly, red headed boy ran out the door. Great. He's gonna tell me to screw off. Ralph thought. That redheaded boy was Jack. He was a mean, arrogant, cold bully that only did things for his own benefit. Ralph never liked Jack. Jack was even pretty mean to Ralph. Calling him names, shrugging off his ideas, even beat him a couple of times. After all that, Ralph couldn't really hate him. Theres just something about him that made Ralph smile to himself. Jack is athletic and really smart. He's even the lead chorister. He could be a decent person if he tried a little harder.
Of course, Jack had to be an arsehole so early in the morning. Today, Jack was acting a little weird, like he was trying to be nice,
"Hey golden boy, I'm gonna walk to school with you and you're not gonna argue. Ok?"
Confusion took over Ralph. It was evident in his facial expression, which he realized and fixed as fast as he could. Ralph replied, "Uh, okay."
~
Ecstatic. That was the feeling to describe Jack at that moment. He could finally spend time with his Ralph
The two boys walked in silence for the first few minutes until Ralph missed the turn to the school.
"Hey idiot!" Jack exclaimed, "school is over there in case you haven't noticed."
Ralph looked at him then smiled awkwardly, "Oh I'm taking the long way." Jack looked at Ralph and nodded. He secretly loved that Ralph smiles at him like that. His heart fluttered and jumped. Of course they're just friends, it's not like Jack wanted more, that's stupid.
Ralph didn't know how to break it to Jack that he needs to drop off the flowers to his friends. He was sure that Jack didn't care for him or his friends and just wanted to terrorize Ralph.
They walked a little more. Jack was walking strangely close to Ralph and brushed wrists. They both became beet red. The boys looked at each other and connected for a solid second. That sweet moment was interrupted by a squeaking of metal gates with the wind
A sign that wined and waved in the air read "CEMETERY." Ralph looked up at it with a pang in his heart. They have arrived.
~
Jack looked at Ralph with shock. Is that where he's been going every Wednesday? Taking the peace lilies and mourning a loved one. Did one or two of his parents die? A lover? Jack flinched at Ralph loving someone romantically. It's not like he cares... he just doesn't see Ralph as being the type to love like that.
The soft hand around the lilies tightened as Ralph took a deep breath and pushed the black gates open. The screeching of rusty gates drove Jacks ears six feet under.
