Don't you just hate getting in trouble for shit that you don't deserve to get in trouble for? I sure did, and that had seemed to be happening a lot lately.

The lunch bell ended second period, and Mariana immediately grabbed my hand to drag me to the cafe.
I stopped when we got to the staircase. "Nat come on! I don't to wait in a long line, it's taco day!"
I raised an eyebrow at her. "Since when do you loved white-washed tacos?"
"Since it comes with tater-tots."
That wasn't it. "And?"
"And nothing."
I stared her down.
"And... Adam is working in the cafe today."
'There it is." I mumbled. "I'm sorry but I can't come, I have to talk to Mr. Davis."
She sighed. "What did you do now?"
"I didn't do anything, he just asked to talk to me, I don't know why."
"Well okay, have fun."
I rolled my eyes at her and headed to his class.

When I walked in and I saw him flipping through a book I froze, because for a second I thought it was another photo album. I let out a deep breath when I saw it was just a book.
"Hey," He said when he noticed I'd walked in. "would you mind closing the door?"
I closed it, and then sat on top of the desk across from him.
"What was it you wanted to talk to me about?" I asked as I began fiddling with my necklace.
He pursed his lips. "Are you and Mason friends now?"
I raised an eyebrow because did he really call me in here just to ask if I was friends with Mason? I shrugged. "I don't know, I guess you could say that."
"That was a very pretty rose he gave you." He replied.
"Yeah it was, but why are you–" The way he looked at me gave it away. "Oh no. I'm not with him like that, the rose was just an apology gift. I don't like him like that."
"What if he likes you like that?"
"He doesn't, he's gay, him and Evan are dating right now."
Mr. Davis's eyes widened, he looked like he didn't believe me, which was fair enough because I didn't believe it at first and it happened right in front of me. "You're kidding." He said.
"No sir," I said with a sigh. "and why would you care who I'm friends with or who I date anyways." You pulled away from our almost kiss.
He looked away, seemingly unable to keep eye-contact with me any longer. "Because I care about you, Natalia. I don't want to see you get hurt."
I had to resist a smile because hearing him say he cared about me was a big pick me up, and I hated that it was.
"I care about all my students."
When he said that, the happiness was gone, completely drained from my body. Now instead of a smile, I had to resist a frown. "That's nice, are we done here?"
"I also just wanted to check in on you, because you seemed pretty upset in class earlier."
There was something about the softness in his voice that made me want to tell him everything, it made me feel safe, it made me feel like I could tell him everything. I wouldn't do that, because that would mean telling him that he was the reason. "I'm fine, just a little tired is all."
I could tell by the way he looked at me that he didnt believe it. "So, is that all?"
