Daniel's POV
I just got back from visiting one of our ally packs in Florida only to come home to a ton of work and two rouge females in the cells that I'd have to deal with. Honestly, if it weren't for Michael constantly talking about how intriguing they were, I'd probably just kill them. But Michael is one of my best friends and if he has made friends with them I'll try to keep an open mind. Although I'm not promising not to kill them. I know that sounds harsh but I've just been in a bad mood lately. Most alpha's hand their titles down to their heirs when the turn twenty-one, some alphas who either have an immature heir or are desperate to stay in power hand the title down when they turn twenty-five, and then there are the select few who are handed the title when they are eighteen. That either happens because the alpha dies, or they just believe they're ready. I was one of those select few. My father believed I was ready to be an alpha even before I did. I know I'm not a bad alpha but I also know I could be so much better, but there's nothing I can do about it. I am twenty-three years old and I have not found my mate yet. It's driving me insane! When I was younger I was perfectly content with my player ways, but now, I just want to find her. This pack needs their Luna and I need my mate. Although my mother is technically still a Luna we haven't had a proper one since my dad resigned. Five years ago! I ran a hand through my hair and sat down. I sighed, where could she be.
Daniel? I heard James call through the mind-link. My pack is run on respect, not fear, yet he is one of the only people who calls me Daniel, not alpha. But I don't mind, he is my best friend after all.
Yes James.
You'll never believe this, I just found my mate, he exclaims, joy oozing from his voice.
That's fantastic. Ugh, I can't believe he found his mate before I did. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic for my best friend, I just wish I could find my mate already.
I know... But, umm... She's one of the rouges. But please, if you just met her you'd see she's not at all like the other rouge females we've encountered. Neither is her friend.
Alright... Well I'd like to see this for myself. Bring them up.
Thank you! He says happily. We cut off.
I sigh, I hope someday I'll be that happy. I wonder what my mate will be like? My daydreams were interrupted by James walking into my office.
"They're right outside Daniel. Should I bring them in?", he asks.
"Sure", I sit up. "But first, you said they weren't like normal rouges".
"Yeah?", he questions.
"What did you mean by that?"
"Oh, well... For starters they're not rude or bitchy. In fact from what I can tell the most hostile thing either of them has done was the one girl growled at me when I tried to go to my mate. But that was because she was sleeping and she wanted to make sure I wasn't lying before she let me get close to her best friend".
"Oh", that is weird.
"They also look like they take pretty good care of themselves. They aren't dirty and ugly, they're beautiful in fact. Also, they're both really nice. Earlier today little Emma Parsons wandered down there and the other girl talked with her and braided her hair until she fell asleep".
"You mean she got Emma to fall asleep?", I asked with disbelief.
"Yep", he said, popping the "P".
"Wow. Alright bring them in". I was quite interested to meet these girls. My wolf Xavier was barking about something in my head but I ignored him. James stuck his head out the door and then walked back inside. Then in came Michael, a beautiful blonde girl (who I was assuming was James' mate because she was holding his hand and he was beaming at her), and then another drop dead gorgeous girl. For some reason all I could focus on was her and how badly I wished she'd look at me so I could see her face.
"Alpha. I would like to introduce you to my mate and her companion", James said.
The girl finally looked up and it was like time stopped. I know that's cheesy and I sound like a total girl but I don't care. Her long wavy caramel colored hair cascaded down her back, her short cropped bangs resting over one eye. Her eyes were a beautiful deep yet light turquoise that had me completely and utterly dumbstruck. Her plump pink lips were slightly parted and I knew I would dream about what they tasted like. I'd known her all of two seconds and I was already imagining waking up to that gorgeous face for the rest of my life. She was quite tall, about 5'11 and I admired her unbelievably long legs. Her skin was sun-kissed and I almost fell over at the sight of her body. She had a very small waist despite how tall she was and was perfectly skinny, not in an anorexic kind of way but in a very fit kind of way. She also had amazing little curves in all the right places. I practically drooled at how her shorts and top fit her so tightly. I finally understood that this girl, this unrealistically sexy woman was my mate. She smiled slightly and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. This girl was going to have me wrapped around her finger in no time.
"Mine", I barely managed to say before I ran over and wrapped my arms around her.
I vaguely heard James say, "Congratulations dude", but I didn't respond, I just stood there inhaling the scent of my beautiful mate. She smelled like Vanilla and Coconut, with a hint of Cinammon. I felt her slowly slide her hands over my shoulders, making me shiver in delight, before resting then around my neck. Then, I felt her turn her head in the direction of James and his mate.
"We are so screwed", her voice was so soft and beautiful it took me a moment to register what she had said.
"I know", the other girl replied.
"What?", James and I both asked at once. Then I spoke again, "Baby why would you say that". I was starting to get worried. What if she didn't think I was good enough. Damn I'm whipped already. What if she's going to reject- No. She won't reject me. I won't let it happen.
As if she knew what I was thinking she said, "Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with you two. It's just..."
"We weren't really planning to hang around this town for very long", the other one finishes. James and I both growl at the thought of them leaving. "Calm down, I was just about to say we may need to change our plans". We both relax.
"Good. I'm Daniel. What's your name?", I ask.
Michael groans "Here we go again", I look at him questioningly. Then I look at James and he gives me a look that says 'you'll see'. I turn back to my mate and she begins.
"I'm Shawn Spencer and this is my associate, Magic Head". The other girl waves with two fingers. I give her a questioning look, she shrugs.
"They won't tell anyone their names and any time you ask the use a quote from this same TV show about a guy named Shawn Spencer and his partner who he's always making up names for", Michael explains quickly.
"Now", my beautiful mate speaks up. "First things first. I know your wondering why we still won't tell you our names and I'll get to that in a minute. Like she said we weren't planning to hang around very long and there's a reason for that", I instantly became curious. "A reason we'd rather not discuss. But I suppose we should at least give you the general idea. So, long story short we left our old pack for reasons we don't want to go into at this time and we won't give our names out because we'd prefer that our old pack doesn't find us. If we can trust that you won't tell our old pack that we're here, then this could work. If not...", she trails off.
Her friend continues, "Then we'll have to leave".
James and I both growl and pull them to us, "No. You will stay her. We won't tell your old pack about you being here but you can't leave". Damn, I sound so clingy.
My little mate smiles, "Alright".
After a moment of silence James speaks up, "So are you girls gonna tell us your names?"
They looked at each other, then with creepy synchronization they say, "In due time".
"Well what are we supposed to call you until then?", I ask.
Then Michael pipes up, "I've been calling them blondie and turquoise". He shrugs, "It's worked for me so far".Kate's POV
After about an hour of them trying and failing to guess our names they finally gave up.
"Oo! I just realized", I say, then I turn to Daniel. "Where is her car?", he looks at me questioningly.
"Her car. The one we came here with? If we're gonna stay here we are going to need that back".
"Why do you need a car to stay here", James asked.
"Umm... Because our stuff is in it", Blake says slowly as if talking to a baby.
He grumbles but they bring us down to the garage. We quickly get ahead of them in our rush to get to the car. When we do get there they are about twenty feet behind us, taking their time but keeping an eye on us. I quickly remove the cloaking spell I put on our car so if anyone tried to dig through it they wouldn't find any of our stuff and we start pulling bags out.
"No wait let me do that", Daniel runs over to take the bags from my hands. I just roll my eyes.
"I can handle my own bags Daniel".
"James", I hear Blake whine and look over to see her in a similar situation.
"Come on please. Let us carry them for you", they beg.
We both sigh, exasperated, "Fine". They say thank you, kiss us on the cheeks and continue taking our stuff out of the trunk.
"What the hell?!", someone shouts. We look over to see the rude man who brought us to the cells staring at us in disbelief. "How did- But there- What?!"
"Rogan", Daniel barks. "What is the problem?"
"Alpha. I apologize for my outburst but how did they do that?"
"Do what exactly?"
"I was in here no more than three minutes ago and there were no bags in that car".
"Of course there were bags in this car, they've been here since we got here". Inside my head I was laughing like crazy, as was Blake. Payback's a bitch.
"No, I swear there weren't. I searched the entire car and there was nothing", he said with determination.
"Well", I say. "Maybe you should have looked harder". Then I picked up a bag and walked out of the room with Blake at my side. We make our way back to the living room with the boys at our heels.
"So, where are we sleeping", Blake asked. It was only then that I realized just how late it was getting.
"Come on, we'll take you there", James says. We nod and follow them. As we're walking through the halls I start to notice things I didn't before. For instance, this pack house is huge! No doubt it's more than twice the size of the one back in our old pack. It's also beautiful. Some parts of it look antique and intricately decorated while other areas look more modern. As we're walking Blake starts asking questions.
"How big is your territory?", she asks.
"About 10,000 acres", wow.
"How old is this pack house?"
"About twenty years".
"Wow, I'd have thought it was older", I said surprised.
"Yeah well, the old pack house was about one hundred and ten years old until it was destroyed in a fire twenty years ago. So when they built this one they designed it just like the old one". James explains.
"Ah".
Then a question pops into my mind, "Daniel", I pause. "How many pack members do you have?"
He smiles proudly, "We just surpassed twelve hundred". Oh my god. I'm so screwed.
