Two Alphas Too Many

Kate's POV

"So what was it like?", I ask Blake. We've spent the last hour talking about our marks. James and her officially marked each other last night. Her mark is a majestic black wolf nuzzling a handsome brown wolf, with 'Beta James' underneath it. Above it the words, 'Ma paix avec vous', are written, which means, 'my peace with you' in French. Mine is a gorgeous pure white wolf lying down on it's stomach calmly, surrounded by flowers with a powerful-looking black wolf standing protectively over her and it had 'Alpha Daniel' written under it. It also has, 'Un cor compartit, en pau a la natura' written under it. Which means 'a shared heart, at peace in nature', in Catalan.
I hear the door open and girls voices call up. Blake and I run downstairs to greet our guests.
"Hi!!", we all shout at each other. A pretty blonde woman steps up, "Hi I'm Allison, Michael's mate", she says sweetly. I think I'm going to like her. She looks about twenty-three, her medium-length golden blonde hair went a few inches past her shoulders, and she had deep brown doe eyes.
Then Alyssa steps up with a girl. "Kate, Blake, this is my friend Nikita. But she goes by Nikki. Nikki, this is Kate and Blake", she introduces. Nikki is very tall, has dark tan skin, and looks part Asian. She also looks part Spanish or something. She has long black hair that passes her mid-back and chocolate colored eyes. We say our hellos and then Ellie grabs a girl's hand and drags her to us.
"This", she pushes the girl forward. "Is Zola. Zola, Kate and Blake. Kate and Blake, Zola." She is a petite african-American girl with poofy black curly hair and enormous doe eyes.
"Hi", she says excitedly. We say hi back and then turn to Rilynn.
"Girls, Erin. Erin, girls", Rilynn says simply but excitedly.
"Hey", Erin says. She has short, cropped, naturally blonde hair, with neon blue highlights. She also has dark blue eyes that almost look purple.
"Alright, now that everyone's here. Let's go", Blake says.
"Daniel's letting us use our room since it's so big", I explain as we all pile into the elevator. When we get to our floor we walk down the hall and into the room. The girls gasp.
"This is huge!", Zola says as Ellie runs and jumps on the bed.
"I know I feel like I live in a castle", I say laughing.
Alyssa runs and jumps on the bed also. "It's been forever since I've been in here".
"Hey, I was here first", Ellie whines. She pushes her off the bed and Alyssa lands on the floor with an 'oomph'. We all laugh.
"Alright, so I know it's not something you'd normally do at a sleepover but since Rilynn said she wanted to...", Blake trails off as she pulls out a mini chainsaw. Rilynn squeals, actually squeals as we all laugh, then we run out into the woods. Half an hour later and Rilynn is cackling like a maniac, sawing all the boards we left out there to pieces.
"Alright, I think that's enough for tonight", I say and we all head inside.
When we get upstairs I walk over and open my drawer, "I thought we could use some food". I pull out my stash and they girls smile. I have chips, soda, water, and lots of candy and chocolate. Ellie leaps up and snatches the skittles, then runs into the corner whispering 'my precious'.
"She REALLY likes skittles", Zola explains. I already love those two.
"Alright, I know it's early, but let's all get in our pajamas", Blake suggests and we all agree. I put on my favorite navy blue pajamas and my cream sweater (I'm obsessed with this outfit) and Blake puts on her neon green booty shorts (she agreed to wear pants tonight) and her pastel pink cotton t-shirt. I move to put my hair up in a bun and I hear a shocked shriek.
"YOU'RE MARKED!!!!!!!!", I turn to see Alyssa staring straight at my neck.
I quickly cover it up with my hair, "I don't know what your talking about". I know she won't buy it but eh, why not?
"Oh no you don't! I wanna see your mark!!!!", now the other girls are crowding around.
"Say it a little louder, will you? I don't think they heard you in China", I say sarcastically. I'm now being bombarded with questions.
'When did this happen?', 'why didn't you tell us?, "Alright guys", Blake stops them. "Yes, she is marked. I am also", another round of squeals. "And yes, it's exciting and we can talk about it all you guys want, but please don't tell anyone. We're going to announce it at the ceremony tomorrow".
"Of course", Nikki agrees calmly. "We can keep it a secret for one day, right girls?", they all agree.
Then Alyssa grabs our arms and drags us over to the bed. "Ok, now spill", she demands. We both share our experiences and then let them admire our marks.
"Oh that's beautiful. I'm so glad Daniel found his mate", Ellie gushes.
"And James too", Rilynn adds. We discovered that while she definitely was a tomboy, she also had a bit of a girly side. "But seriously", Alyssa starts. "When I found my mate Cole, by the way you totally need to meet Cole, you'd love him. Anyway, Daniel was happy for me of course but I could tell he was sad that he hadn't found his mate yet. Although at the time he thought he was happy being a player, I could tell that deep down, he really wanted to find you", she explained. That made me feel happy that he was looking for me and sad that he was sad. I definitely didn't miss the glint in Alyssa's eyes when she talked about her mate. It was the same glint we all had.
"I would love to. Ok, so anyone who has a mate, I want to hear about them", I announced.
Alyssa starts first, "Alright well my mate is Cole. He's twenty, like me, and our number one pack warrior. I went to a fancy boarding school when I was fifteen and he was always training when I came back to town so we didn't meet until I was eighteen. When we did, it was love at first sight. I know that sounds cheesy but it's true. He marked me a few days later and the next day, we completed the mating process", she said smiling, which earned creeped out faces from Ellie and Zola.
"Okay, I'm going to have to stop you there. I'm all for talking about mates but please leave out any details WHATSOEVER about the mating process", Ellie begged. We laughed but agreed.
"I haven't found my mate yet", Nikki explained frowning.
I put my hand on hers, "You'll find him soon". I reassured her.
"Well you already know my mate", Allison says smiling. "We met because he came to my pack to resolve some issues. My father is actually the third in command of our pack so our mating and later marriage turned our packs into allies", she explained.
"Awesome", Blake comments.
"Well obviously we haven't met our mates yet", Ellie shrugs, gesturing to herself and Zola.
"Of course", I say.
Rilynn looks at Erin, "Our situation is pretty interesting".
"How do you mean?", Blake asks.
"Well her situation is fairly normal but mine isn't", Erin starts. "So, Rilynn and I are best friends and my mate, Toby, is her brother's best friend. You should have seen their faces when they found out", Erin says smiling.
"Really? When did you guys find out?", I questioned.
"Oh that was awkward. We were on our way to the movies a few days after her sixteenth birthday when we ran into Toby and Cody coming back from a party. They both just ran to each other and started kissing, leaving Cody and I very confused", Rilynn explained.
We laugh, "That sounds, very interesting".
"So what about you Rilynn?", Blake asks.
"Oh please, call me Riley. And my mate is Phillip. He's so sweet", she says dreamily.
"Oh my gosh Riley are you swooning?!" I ask laughing.
"Oh shut up", she demands as she blushes furiously. We talked about mates for a little while longer and found out that Allison has been married for three years, Alyssa is engaged and set to be married in February, and Riley and Erin are both waiting until their seventeen before they're marked. We all talked and had fun (Blake and I taught Ellie to make the bottomless shoe things) for a little less than an hour.
"Alright, why don't we watch YouTube videos", Blake suggests and we all cheer in agreement. We watch EpicRapBattlesOfHistory, Michelle Phan, Pewdiepie, MyCupcakeAddiction, Danisnotonfire, and a bunch of others. An hour later and we're still watching YouTube, but Zola and Erin are playing cards with Riley, Grace is painting Alyssa's nails, Nikita and Allison are talking about some traveling they want to do, and I'm braiding Ellie's hair.
"Do you love Daniel, like, do you want to marry him?", Ellie asks suddenly.
I smile, "Yeah, I do".
She smiles, then frowns, "Wait, yes you love him or yes you want to marry him?"
I think about it, "Yes".
She beams, "That's so great! You're going to be my sister! I've always wanted a sister!"
"Hey!", Alyssa yells from the other side of the room, frowning.
"I meant ANOTHER sister", Alyssa still frowns. "Love you", Ellie tries. Alyssa just huffs playfully and I laugh.
"Don't worry, I've always wanted a sister too", I tell her and I'm suddenly hit in the head with a pillow. "Ow", I turn and glare at Blake who's sitting there with her arms crossed. "See!", I point to her. "This is why I want a sister. So I won't be stuck with that". She nails me with another pillow. "Ow! Just kidding. Complete the heart Blake". She huffs and we all laugh. And no, we didn't suddenly break out in an awesome pillow fight... But twenty minutes later Riley got annoyed at Erin in the game they were playing and... well, we ended up having a pillow fight anyway. I know, I know, very cliche, but what can I say, what happens, happens. And although we wouldn't normally have pillow fights and do makeovers and paint each other's nails, we figured we'd have the stereotypical slumber party, so that's what we did. After all that it was ten o'clock and we put in a movie. We watched 'Now You See Me' and then a bunch of different TV episodes.
"So, you girls wanna pull a prank?", I asked mischievously. They all turned to me with devilish expressions on their faces. Half an hour later and we'd TP'd the kitchen, there was pink dye in our mates shampoo bottles, the hallways on the third, fourth, and fifth floors were full of homemade fake snow, and all the guards off duty in the pack house had comical mustaches and such drawn on their faces. We almost got caught doing that last one so by the time we got pack to our room we were tripping over our own feet because we were laughing so hard.
"O-oh my gosh!", I cried laughing.
"Di-did you s-see hi-s face?!", Alyssa asked, unable to control her laughter. We all nodded, unable to form any more words. I buried my face in a pillow as my laughter became silent. Once we'd all calmed down we went back to watching TV episodes.
"Alright, what do you girls want to do now?", I asked the crowd.
"Let's talk about plans", Alli suggests.
"What do you mean?", Erin asks.
"Like, what we want for our future", she explains.
"Alright, I'll go first", Alyssa offers. "After I marry Cole I want to go to college, and become a doctor, and then have kids".
"That sounds great Alyssa", I tell her. "When I was younger I wanted to go to Juilliard and become an actress. But after the whole Richard debacle (the other girls were already filled in) I decided I wouldn't be able to, so now it's more like my most beloved hobby. I recently decided that, since I do want children, I'd study a bunch of different courses so I'd be well versed, and just become a stay at home mom that does a LOT of volunteer work", I explain. "Because I love animals and nature".
*cough* Nature spirit *cough*, Blake says through the mind link. Blake explains that she wants to get married and be a marine wildlife behavioral specialist, as well as a mother. Nikita wants to find her mate, have kids, and become an artist. Ellie wants to find her mate, become a writer, and have kids. Riley doesn't really want kids and she wants to start her own company that sells some sort of invention. Since Alli is already married and is already a nurse, all she really wants is kids. Zola wants to find her mate, have kids, and own her own charity foundation (that I offered to help her run). Erin wants to go to college, get married, have kids, and run her own computer company.
By four o'clock in the morning Ellie, Zola, and Riley, Erin, and Nikki were asleep. So now it was just Blake, Alyssa, Alli, and me. We all eventually agreed it was time to go to sleep, and the last thought I have before I drift off is, I can't believe how lucky we were to end up here.
