Daniel's POV

I slowly drift into consciousness and reach out to pull my mate closer to me... To be met with an empty bed. I shoot straight up and look around for her but I don't see her. I try to listen for her heartbeat but it's not there. She's not here. Where is she?! I leap out of bed and burst into the hallway. I'm only there for a few seconds before James bursts out as well.
He looks frantic, even more so when he sees me. "Alpha, what's the problem?", he asks although he looks like he knows the answer already.
"My mate, she's gone", I say, still freaking out.
"So is mine. You don't think they left... Do you?", it's obvious he's hoping for me to say that's absurd but that's exactly what I was thinking.
"I don't know. But if they did, we'll find them", he nodded and we ran down the stairs. When we got to the first floor I turned to him, "Alright James, mind link Michael and tell him-", we were cut off by a loud crash from the kitchen.
"EAT PANCAKE BITCH!!!!!!!!", we hear what sounds like my mate coming from the same direction. We look at each other and run straight towards the kitchen. As we're running we hear muffled screaming that sounds like blondie. We burst through the door only to see the last thing I ever expected to see.

Kate's POV

I hear a soft creak and I sit up right... Or at least I attempt to. I'm still being weighed down by Daniel's enormous arm. I look over at the door and see Blake standing quietly in the doorframe. I don't even have to ask because I know she's waiting for me to get up. I slowly weasel my way out of his arms and slip out of bed. I slide my slippers onto my feet and throw on my cream knit sweater and walk out the door.
I look at her, "Pancakes?"
She smiles and nods, "Pancakes".
We take the elevator down to the kitchen. "Wait", I ask. "What time is it?"
"Umm, I don't know. Wait, why are you asking me you're the one who wears a watch?", she retorts.
"Yeah well I'm not wearing it now", she rolls her eyes at me. We look around until we see a clock on the wall that reads 5:30. "Wow, we slept in". We both developed a habit of staying up really late and waking up really early so we don't really need that much sleep anymore. For the most part that is, but Sunday, that is Blake and my sleep in day. You do NOT want to wake us up too early on a Sunday. Also, for some reason, Blake isn't that hard to wake up during the work week, but weekends, that's when you have to get creative. Anyway, we both started pulling out pancake ingredients and toppings like whipped cream, chocolate chips, and fruit. Once we have all our ingredients we mix up the batter and start making them. We decide to make some for Daniel and James too. Once we've finished eating and have set away the pancakes for our mates we start cleaning up. I suddenly feel a puff of flour hit the back of my head and turn to see Blake smirking at me. I grab a handful of flour and hit her straight in the face with it.
She glares at me, "Nice shot. But not as good as this". She grabs a huge amount and slides it down my face and chest.
"Oh you're on!", I yell and squirt her with the whipped cream. She gasps and then the fight began. She was chucking blueberries and squirting syrup at me and I was spraying whipped cream and throwing strawberries. She bent down to pick up the chocolate chips and when she came back up I nailed her straight on the forehead with a slice of butter. She pulled it off and growled at me. Then she grabbed a handful of uncooked pancake batter and smeared it into my hair. I really don't like sticky stuff in my hair. I grabbed two eggs and smashed them on her chest, getting a lot of egg in her bra and then tackled her to the ground. I sat on her stomach, my knee pinning one of her wrists, the other in my hand, I pulled a stray pancake off the counter and stuffed it in her face screaming, "EAT PANCAKE BITCH!!!!!!!!". We were both laughing and she was yelling but it was muffled by the pancake when suddenly the door slammed open to reveal our very confused and stressed out looking mates. We died. We laughed so hard our laughter became silent. We couldn't breathe. Our flour covered faces were soaked with tears. I fell off of her clutching my stomach and we just laid on the floor and laughed. Ten minutes later and we were still at it.
We just barely started to calm down when Daniel finally asked, "What the hell is going on here?!?" That just set us off all over again. When we finally calmed down another ten minutes later we picked ourselves up off the floor and took the elevator up the the sixth floor (the top level and level with our rooms). The boys just trailed behind us silently as we walked to Daniel and I's room and into the bathroom. We were still giggling as I turned on the shower and we both stepped inside.
"What are y-", James started.
"Showering", Blake cut him off.
Daniel frowned, "What, you'll shower with her but not with me?"
"Hmm... Yep", I say sweetly. He and James both growl, "I'll shower with her and not you because A. She's my best friend. B. We are leaving our clothes on. And C. She's prettier than you". He growls loudly and we just burst out laughing again. A few minutes later of them standing there (they refused to leave which was creepy to think about, I mean we're best friends, not lovers), watching us standing in our pjs in the shower trying to scrub the pancake ingredients out of our hair, Blake finally stepped out. She grabbed a towel and walked to her room to shower privately. I just stand there as Daniel continues to watch me.
"Do you mind?", I ask, gesturing for him to get out.
"No I don't. Thanks for asking", he smiles cockily as he continues to stand there.
"Fine then", I turn off the shower. "Alright, so either you get out and let me wash all of this stuff off or you stay there and I just get out and continue to be sticky and smell like pancake for the rest of the day".
He just smirks, "Do whatever you want. I'm staying here. But I know you don't want to spend the rest of the day covered in pancake batter".
Alright, well two can play at that game. "Your right. I don't want to. But I obviously can't shower in here so I'll just go shower in James' room", his smirk twists into a scowl and he growls furiously. "Or maybe Mich-".
"NO!", he roared. "I'll leave and you will shower in here", he stormed out of the bathroom. I smirked, that's what you get. Thirty minutes later I come out of the shower smelling fresh and clean. I slip on a pair of dark blue jean shorts and camo t-shirt that says "You can't see me" in sparkly silver letters. I come out of the closet and see Daniel in a tight dark blue v-neck and blue jeans and tennis shoes. Then I slip on my silver converse, throw my hair up into a ponytail and head downstairs with Daniel at my heels. There is still no-one in there, probably because it's 6:30 on a Monday morning, and I grab the other pancakes and put them in the microwave. Once their done I split them up, half on one plate and half on the other, put some more syrup and whipped cream on them and slide one plate over to Daniel. He looks at me questioningly.
"What's this", he asks.
"Uh. Breakfast?"
He looks surprised, "You made me breakfast?"
"Yeah. Well, we did".
"You didn't have to do that".
"Sure I didn't have to, but we were making some and we thought we'd make some for you", I said shrugging. "It's no big deal".
He smiled brightly at me, "It is to me". He leans across the counter and kisses me one the cheek. Then he takes a bite of his pancakes and he practically moans. "These pancakes are delicious", he exclaims. I get myself a glass of water as he continues to eat until his plate is empty. "So", I take a sip of water. "Would you like to tell me what happened this morning", I choke on my water and start laughing. He groans.
"Alright sorry, sorry", I say when I finally manage to get myself under control. "Well first of all you should know that that wasn't the first time we did that and it won't be the last".
"Really? You've done that before?", he asks with an amused expression.
"Oh yeah. We both like to cook and bake and we have a great time doing it, but when it comes time to clean up... I don't know it's just one of our things".
"Your things?"
"Yeah. Our 'things' are like constant factors about our friendship. Like how we can sit in one of our bedrooms for hours on end being totally antisocial yet interacting at the same time. Or how we have never been able to sit through an hour of church without laughing. Or how no matter how calm we are while cooking we almost always start a food fight when cleaning it up. It's just a thing", I explain.
"You laugh in church?", I giggle and nod. "My mother would have killed me if she ever saw me do that".
"Oh believe me, our mothers weren't too happy about it either", I laugh at the memories.
He laughs too, "So are those your only 'things'?"
At that moment Blake walks in with James, "Oh no. We have more things then you could count", she answers for me. She walks over and grabs the other plate of pancakes, heats them up, and hands them to James. They basically have the same conversation as we had and he kisses her on the cheek. Blake and I both notice James and Daniel seem to space out for a second, and we share a look that tells the other that we realize their mind linking, but we chose to ignore it.
"Now we don't want you girls to feel pressured", Daniel starts. "But we were wondering when you'd be willing to be introduced to the pack as the new Luna and Beta Female...?", James asks nervously. That surprised me a little.
What do you think? I asked Blake through the link.
I don't know. I mean as much as I'd love to, it's a big step...
I know. But it could be good for us. I'm mainly worried about Richard.
Well... Maybe we should tell them...
What?!
Jeez you're even loud in my mind. Not everything. Just tell them what pack we came from and that we specifically don't want the alpha to know about us.
Yeah... That's a good idea. But what about the pack members? What if one of them tells someone in the Blue Moon Pack. Unless... I trail off.
What?
Hold on.
"Umm, Daniel. Before we answer that question could you answer me something?"
"Sure princess, what is it?"
"How are your relations with the Blue Moon Pack?"
Beside me Blake stomped on my toes but I didn't flinch. Daniel looked very taken aback, "Umm. Well we're not fighting with them if that's what your asking".
"It's not. I'm asking would you consider yourself allies with them or... What?".
Before he could answer us James spoke up, "I should hope not. Their alpha is nothing but a filthy conniving bast-".
"James", Daniel warned.
"Well it's true. We'd never had any interaction with them at all until a couple years ago. He tried to force us to help him with his financial issues. After that we cut all ties with his pack". I felt myself smiling internally.
"Ah", I say.
So what do you think, Blake asks me.
I say let's go for it. Without Richard there's nothing holding us back.
I agree.
"How's this Saturday?" Blake pipes up.
"For what", James asks curiously.
"For the introduction ceremony", I say. They both take a moment before they realize what we're talking about.
"You mean you want to do it this Saturday?", Daniel asks excitedly.
"That is what we said, isn't it?", I ask as if I'm talking to five years olds. We all laugh.
Blake, I say.
Yeah?
I think things are finally starting to work out the way they should.
She smiles at me. Yeah, I think they are.
