[ alec's perspective ]
The cry of my baby girl was the thing to bring me out of my peaceful sleep.
As I sleepily walked to her little crib, her cries softened until they were just sniffles.
I looked into her big blue eyes, smiling widely. "Hey, Sapphire," I whispered. "Do you want to sleep with daddy?"
A grin from her cute face was my answer, as I wrapped her up in a pink blanket and brought her over to my bed.
Careful not to crush her, I laid her down and took my place next to her tiny, tiny frame.
Knowing she wasn't sleepy enough yet, I started talking to her. "Hey, Sapph, did you know Daddy still goes to school? Yeah, he does. It's not fun, but coming home to you is my favorite part of the day," I looked over at her, and her eyes were wide with what seemed to be wonder, encouraging me to continue talking to her. "Daddy has some friends, you know. Their names are Sam, Tanner, and Adrian. You'll meet them someday, I hope." I cradled her little body in my arms, and picked up where I left off. "Sam, Tanner, and Adrian are brothers, and they have two more older brothers and a little sister, who daddy thinks is really pretty. Her name is Evangeline, but she goes by Eva. Do you like the name Eva, Sapphire?" I asked her, earning a sleepy giggle from my baby girl.
"I do too. Now go to sleep, Sapph. I love you," I whispered to the sleeping baby next to me.
My little princess.
;
I woke up this time to the sound of Sapphire screaming and to the annoying beep of my alarm.
Cradling Sapphire to my chest, I whispered and cooed her, attempting to calm her down.
"Sapphire, baby, it's okay! Daddy's here, you're fine and safe, I promise." I said softly, but my daughter would have none of it.
She kept screaming, and it broke my heart to see her cry. "Hey, Sapphire, you wanna go see Uncle Ryan and Aunt Lizzy? I think you do," I said sleepily.
Don't get me wrong, Sapphire is my entire world. But the screaming thing she does - not pleasant.
After entering the living room, I noticed Ryan and Lizzy were in the kitchen, cooking breakfast.
"Morning Ryan, Lizzy. Will one of you kindly help me stop her from screaming any longer?" I asked casually, pointing at my screaming baby in my arms.
Lizzy laughed softly and took Sapphire from my arms, and took her into another room.
"Hey, Alec. How'd you sleep?"
I put my head on the table. "Sapph woke up, but she calmed down quickly. Other than that, I just didn't sleep that well. I gotta get dressed, see you later, bro," I said, ruffling his hair.
We are all siblings, and we all lived together. Why? Because we can.
Our parents are in a small house near us, so they can be near their only grandchild.
Lizzy is the oldest, being twenty.
Then it's me, I'm eighteen.
Lastly, Ryan. He's sixteen.
We're all pretty close, they knew I was a dad as soon as I did. When one of my many (I literally do not sleep around any more at all, I think I'll wait) one night stands calls me and tells me she's pregnant, but doesn't want the baby. Me being me, I couldn't let this life I created die. But first I got a paternity test, just to make sure.
And surely, this beautiful bundle of adorable was mine.
At first it was hard, because my reputation was "the bad boy player" as cliche as it is, I was just the "bad boy" after that. I didn't want any more children until after college, once I found the right girl.
The only girl in my life right now, is my beautiful daughter, Sapphire Emily Logan.
And even though parenting is hard, I wouldn't trade it for the world. She's the reason I live, and I wouldn't change a thing if given that option.
;
Walking the halls of my highschool, my mind was on the beautiful baby girl I get to go home to in a few mere hours.
I heard a squeal and then felt someone jump on my back. "HI ALEC!"
I chuckle and wrap my hands around her calves to keep her from slipping off of my back. "Hey Eva."
What Eva and I have is weird, we're friends because I know her brothers. Sometimes I'll glare at her, it depends on my mood.
I guess we're friends... Kind of?
"Are you coming over today?" She asked, her arms wrapping around my neck to keep from falling.
"Maybe," I grinned. "Miss me already?"
She laughed obnoxiously. "No, don't flatter yourself, babe. I simply need to know when to lock my door and not come out until you leave."
I kissed her cheek. "The Ferocious Five aren't going to like their little sister not spending time with them." I laughed, using the nickname everyone used to describe the Edwards brothers.
Eva was the sweet, calm, middle child, while the rest of the family was somewhere between badass and just plain crazy.
"They can get over it," she whispered, her head drooping onto my shoulder. "I'm so sleepy." She whined.
"Why? Did Little Edwards not get enough sleep?" I cooed sarcastically.
"No," she huffed. "I didn't."
I stopped so I could adjust her. "And why is that?" I asked, continuing to walk to the cafeteria, seeing it was lunch time.
She snorted loudly. "My stupid brothers all had their play things over last night."
"Ooooooh," I said, laughing. "That's gotta suck. Five guys with five chicks, all banging."
"It's like one gigantic, nasty orgy." She whined into my neck.
I laughed and opened the door to the cafeteria, her still on my back.
I heard shouts of Eva and I's name. The ones that stood out for me were the shouts from the triplets: Sam, Adrian, and Tanner.
As I walked to our normal table, I switched the sleepy Eva from being on my back to cradled in my arms.
"What's wrong with her?!" Came the over-protective shout of Tanner, the oldest of the triplets.
I shhh'd them. "She's just tired," I said, sitting down and putting her in a more comfortable position. "I'm just gonna take her home after lunch."
"Dude, she's going to kill you. You know how much she likes her last three classes." Sam said.
"Did she already have English Lit?" I asked.
"Yeah, she has that first period. But she has volleyball and soccer sixth and seventh periods," Adrian answered.
"She can skip those for once, you know it's you guys' fault she's so tired, right?" I laughed.
A sleepy voice entered the conversation. "Alec?"
I sobered up quickly, remembering she was in my arms. "Yeah Evs?"
"Shut the hell up."
