My aunt exploded as soon as we got home. I got suspended for two days, starting from today. The second we walked in the front door she yelled at me. I expected it.
She threw her purse on the floor and didn't even bother to take off her shoes, and that explained how mad she is. My perfect aunt would never walk into the house without taking her shoes off. She hates it when the hardwood floor is dirty. "Seriously, out of all the people in the school, you had to attack Madison Cosby!" She ran her hand through her hair. "Do you know what might happen?" she gritted. "Her mom can kick me out of the board! I worked my ass off these three years to finally get on that damn board!"
I leaned against the wall and kept my head low. I mumbled softly so she couldn't hear me. "She was the one who attacked me first."
My aunt paced back and forth across the living room. "So what if she attacked you first! It doesn't mean you have to attack her back!" she exclaimed, apparently she heard me. I wanted to say, it's not like I wanted to attack her, she was just annoying the hell out of me. But my aunt was already mad enough. I needed a place to stay before I graduate from high school, once I graduate, I'll immediately leave this place.
I shrugged carelessly. "I'm just used to that lifestyle okay. I us.." I protested. She cut me off.
She pointed her finger at me and seethed, "You used to be a fighter, but you are not one anymore. You left that lifestyle because you didn't like it, so you better get used to this lifestyle you are having right now."
I eyed her pointing finger suspiciously and stepped to the side. "I'll get used to it, it'll just ta..." I tried to argue. It was hard to get rid of my old habits because I've been living the past 17 years with those habits.
"I don't care." my aunt retorted cutting me off again. "I don't care how or what you are going to do to get used to it, but while you are doing that, don't cause anymore trouble. There's enough trouble already." She glared at me once more before she angrily stomped away.
I sat down on the couch and threw my head back sighing. Living like a normal teenager was hard. There were so many rules to remember and so many things I couldn't do. It was difficult to remember them each time, but time eventually will help me learn.
Unconsciously I fell asleep on the couch. I jumped up off the couch when I felt it moved, I was ready to jump on my attacker when I realized it was my cousin Julie. I relaxed and sat back down, however, she yanked me back up. I groaned not only because Julie woke me up from my nap, but I had just almost attacked her. It was hard to get rid of old habits.
"What do you want?" I sighed tiredly. I wasn't in the mood to deal with her whining.
She painfully jabbed her finger on my shoulder. She growled, "Why did you attack Madison?" She narrowed her eyes at me. "Do you know what the others at school now think of me? Are you trying to ruin my reputation?" I groaned inwardly. I don't care what the school thinks of you! It has nothing to do with me, but of course I kept that to myself. World War 3 would happen if I said that out loud.
I scoffed and pushed her stabby finger away from me. "What reputation?" I mumbled sarcastically, hoping that she didn't hear me. My cousin was well-known at school, but she wasn't as well known as Madison Cosby. She was at the bottom of the popular pyramid, but I guess she was still considered 'popular'.
She stared at me disbelieved. "What do you mean what reputation?" She demanded while flipping her hair behind her shoulders. "I am popular at school okay. I am the head of my group. I am popular." she argued offended.
I rolled my eyes. "Are you the captain of the cheerleading team?" I didn't even wait for her to answer the question. "No." I said answering my own question. "Just because you're 'part' of the cheerleading team doesn't mean you are popular." I moved here three months ago and at that moment, I felt like I knew more than her.
