Chapter 6

I walked into school disturbed the next day, I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that Hunter was back. My aunt was beyond mad yesterday when she found out that I had skipped school yesterday. Apparently, the office called her during a meeting she was having with the board. She was furious when she found out that I was going to skip school again today.

James walked up to me and put his arm around my shoulder. "Let's ditch school today Mack. I don't feel like going to my classes, besides I forgot to study for my history test today."

I chuckled at him, but then I stared at him dubiously."James, you never skip school because you've always been a goody two shoes." I paused for a moment. "Did Madison do something again?" James looked away and ignored question. "What did she do this time?" I asked bored. Madison has been doing this for the past two weeks and she never gives up.

Selena walked up to us and gave me a hug, "Let's ditch school today? There's this new ice cream parlor down the street from here and I have been dying to try out. A girl from math class kept saying how good it was and now I really want to try it out!" she said excitedly. "Come with me!" she begged.

"Guys, I don't need to avoid her. What's the best she can do?" I joked. The 'revenge' that Madison had been playing on me for the past few days were so lame.

I moved away from Selena and was about to walk to the quad when my phone buzzed. An unknown number was calling me. I frowned, who was it?

"Hello?" I answered.

"Where are you?" a voice demanded immediately.

"Jason?" I asked surprised. "How did you get my number?"

He ignored my question."You should go home and not go to school today." he said with a controlling, yet protective voice.

I groaned."Why are you saying that too? What the hell did Madison do this time?" I demanded. Before he could answer I said, "I'm going to go see what that bitch did this time."

"Mack, don't.." he tried to say but I already ended the call.

"Who was that?" Selena asked.

"Jason." I answered without looking at her.

"You are really close with this Jason guy even though you guys met like a few days ago." She hitched her backpack onto her shoulder since it was slipping. "Does he go this school?" Selena questioned curiously.

I nodded, however, the funny thing was that I've never seen him at school before. Oddly, he's the one who always sees me. "I think he's in our grade, but I've never seen him before around school.

"You seem really happy with this guy." I frowned at her. She shrugged. "I mean he's the only thing that you've been talking about for the past two days."

I shook my head. "Wrong. I only talk about him because I have the need to curse him every second of the day."

Selena and James chuckled at me. I shrugged at walked to the quad. "Wait! Mack, where are you going?" James yelled.

I turned around."To see what the hell Madison did this time!" I was actually curious of what Madison did this time because this is the first time that my friends were worried about me and wanted me to skip school.

"Come back here Mack!" James scolded. I turned my head around and stuck my tongue out at him like a rebellious child disobeying their parent.

"Too late now!" I replied sarcastically. I continued walking to the quad. They jogged to catch up with me. James grabbed my arm.

"Come on Mack, let's go do something fun in town. We can go to the arcades and play the shitty games they have or we could just walk around town. James begged. "Please? Or we can go shopping, eat food, hiking, whatever you want to do."
