chapter 5: tipping point

pov Ojama

we were in a town called Higanbana while team RNJR and lord Soros were in the inn and lord Onac was training in the forest, I and my squad went to the bar when we entered we ordered some random drink since we were used to Assmec nothing can tip that or so we thought. we were on our second round when Kaz noticed somthing, he nodded for me to look towards the bar. when i did i could see a group of guys surrounding a woman trying to flirt probably so i gave Kaz a questioning look, till i heard someone fall and some cursing. so i turned back to see most of the guys backing off and one-off of them was knocked out bleeding from his nose and ears. when i looked at the woman i could see that she had brown hair silver eyes and a set of pointy ears. i went towards her with Kaz and Hurk following, when we were next to the group of guys i spoke.

Ojama: what would be going on here? would we need to intervene?

some of the guys laughed at that, that laugh turning to fear when they saw Hurk and Kaz. one of them was quick to act.

guy1: we were just mucking about, till that bitch there did somthing to my mate over there.

he said pointing to the guy on the floor still bleeding.

Ojama: i hear ya. knife ears somthing to add and hi, by the way, thought you died at Beacon.

Knife ear: oh the Ratling and his squad come to my aid?

Ojama: maybe, did you kill him?

Knife ear: no.

Ojama: alright then, boys looks like we need to deal with some trouble maker.

at that Kaz and Hurk understood what i meant as Hurk took two off the guys by their shirt and started walking to the exit. Kaz had a little struggle till he had one guy in an armbar and started to get him out as i started to drag the unconscious guy to the exit. when i got there the three others were trying to get past Hurk and back in, only for Kaz to pick up the downed guy i was dragging and threw him at his friends as Hurk then smashed the door shut. most of the people in the bar were staring at us.

Ojama: anyone else wants a go?

most turned around at that as we went to take our drinks and took seats next to Knife ears.

Ojama: so what's a Xeno doing in a little town like this?

Knife ears: passing through.

Kaz: where, too?

Kife ears: Atlas why do you want to know.

Ojama: curiosity. we are heading there ourselves after we escorted team RNJR to Mistrel and collected some supplies and rest. why not join us, the more the merrier.  

Knife ears: sure, I'll join.

she took a sip of her drink only to stop and shudder a bit.

Ojama: what is it can't hold your liquor?

Knife ears: no i just never imagined somthing worse than Assmec that's all.

Ojama: are we talking soldier or officers Assmec?

Knife ears: officers. i was married to at the time a captain when i was an infiltrator.

as she said that both Hurk and Kaz spit out their drinks.

Hurk: was is bester then boss man drink?

Kaz: rumour. true?

Knife ears: what rumour?

Ojama: that you married Jaune. now that explains your dynamic. ah, why does he have to have the rank card over me?

Knife ears: oke slow down what dynamic and why does his rank matter.

Ojama: you were acting like a heartbroken and or jealous lover whenever Jaune was around and Jaune would look at you with hatred.

Knife ears: and what has his rank to do with it?

Kaz: details.

she gave us an ice-cold glare

Ojama: listen you should know how many times i have seen guardsmen get punished for discussing what Jaune managed to do. i need to know if it would be worth it.

Knife ears: if you try anything you three won't make it to Mistrel

timeskip

after a goods night rest, we moved on, to say that Knife ears company was accepted would be a partial overstatement. Lord Soros kept an eye on her all-time and a hand on his weapon and Lord Onac has had a psychic battle with her when she showed up. we tolerated her but didn't trust her. as we walked through an abandoned village that wasn't on the map both Ren and knife ears signalled for us to stop, both Astartes turned towards a street to the side weapons raised. as a group of people came towards us as a man jumped over a building and landed between us, this man went to attack team RNJR as lord Soros opened up with bolter fire on the group of people that ran towards us. he was soon joined by the rest of us while team RNJR fought the other guy. when i aimed my long las at one i could see that they where cultists maybe 30 or so. i shot one through the head, as i saw others get cut down by bolter fire. i heard some sort of screaming coming from above me. when i looked up i got scared, three Astartes came falling from the sky. once the landed they started to attack us. one attacked lord Soros, another attacked Lord Onac and the last went for the Eldar.

more cultist came towards us so i continued to shoot. i saw Kaz kill them with his las mounted axe when they got to close or the would-be ripped apart by Hurks ripper gun. but soon the cultists stopped coming and we went to assist the rest i saw Onac crush the skull of his opponent with his totem. i saw Soros fil his opponent with bolt shells killing him as the Eldar used lightning to slow the Astartes enough for her to decapitate him with her spear. we regrouped with team RNJR to find a man injured and the hostile fleeing. i decided to kill the one fleeing so i aimed for his torso to kill him and squeezed the trigger, only thing is he dodged which boggled my mind, how does one dodge a laser?
