pov Jaune

the streets of Mantel were quiet except for the sounds of my men marching and vehicles following them, it was as always a comforting sound to hear the boots of my men step in perfect unison. as i marched i knew that all of Atlas and Mantel watched as today would mark the start of a new era, one of peace and enlightenment. even if it would take years i will bring this world to the fold. most of my men and even every citizen were blind to the three purposes this parade had one was to intimidate any would-be heretic, two was to make sure that Ironwood knew his place and three to act as a cover for a handpicked division to start the raids and cleansings without creating a public uproar.

location: counsel meeting room

Ironwood Pov

i along with the rest of the counsel watched the military parade that commander Arc organised. the counsel seemed unnerved for some reason maybe it was their vehicles since they were ridiculously large or maybe it was the parade as a whole, while Atlas was always putting their army up for show it never gave parades unless we were at war and needed to inspire people. or maybe the fact that Arc did this all without the counsel's permission, and if they tried to stop it now they would come over as weak not even able to control one commander.

???: ahem

i focused on the one who made the noise to see it was counsellor Sleet.

Sleet: general, what do you make of this?

James: do you mean the parade as a whole or his troops, counsellor?

Sleet: both

James: his troops seemed to be disciplined and good in marching in formation, the vehicles are quite large but seem to be heavly armoured, it would also seem that his troops are split into three groups the two main groups were the same armour with the only difference being that one of them has a yellow two-headed bird covering their chest plate, the third group seems to be these so-called knights as the propaganda calls them. as for the parade itself, it's probably a powerplay both towards the whole counsel and me specifically. it was maybe also meant to scare off any would-be threats.

Camila: we need to do somthing to make sure the new commander knows his place.

James: we can't if we were to do anything publicly immediately we could be seen as weak. at best we can give him a punishment behind doors, but the commander can probably find a way around those.

Camila: so we can't do anything?

James: we can do some things but not much, and i may already now an idea to punish him.

Jade pov

i along with a select handpicked few people were busy with a simple mission we knew there was a church of the eight close by and that it was holding a sermon. my men were grappling up the wall of the building to go through the windows as a squad stood ready at the front entrance. i went to the doors and pushed them open when i looked inside i could see everyone looking at me some with confusion and some with fear, but i could see the priest look at me with hatred.

Jade: under the orders of lord commander Arc and in the Emperor's divine name you are all under arrest immediately. resistance to comply will end in immediate termination of your right to walk this plane.
