Slowly, I become aware of feeling, then sounds, then I open my eyes. It's warm and bright in the motel room, the only sounds our mingled breathing and the birds outside with the occasional car or truck from the road. I snuggle further down under the blankets, wrapping one arm around Loki's torso and holding him close, listening to his steady heartbeat. He sighs and says something in his sleep, but I can't make out what. For once, I don't feel angry at the world, and while the feeling is nice, I'm not entirely sure I'm comfortable with it.

Whatever the case, I need to get some things sorted out and we can't stay here. As reluctant as I am to disturb Loki, I have to get up. I gently remove my arm from around him, then move backwards as slowly as I can, trying not to make the bed wobble. I slide onto the floor, padding softly to the door.

"What are you doing?" the voice makes me stop, and I turn around to see Loki watching me, frowning slightly.

"Getting up," I shrug, "I have things I need to do."

"I wouldn't happen to be on that list, would I?" He gets up, shutting the door with one hand and pushing me against the wall with the other. He tilts my face up to his with a finger, bringing our lips together. I grip around his shoulders, pulling him even closer to me.

"We don't have time for this," I pant, breaking away and leaning back, "I need to get stuff done. Maybe later."

"Whatever you say," he smirks, "we're just kissing."

"Yeah," I snort, running a hand through my hair, "just kissing."

He spreads his hands, backing away and opening the door again, leaving me against the wall.

I follow him, picking up my clothes off the floor and putting them on. It's disgusting, but I don't have a choice and I need to go into the town anyway, so I can get clothes there. We strip the beds, leaving the dirty linen in a pile on the floor for the cleaners.

"Ok," I say, grabbing my bag, "let's go."

"Where?"

"There's gotta be a mall around here somewhere, we need to get a few things."

"I saw one on the way."

"Good," I walk out the door to the reception, shouting back at Loki to get the bike.

"That's 86 dollars total," the receptionist smiles, and I hand over the cash. She smiles again, asks if I want a receipt which I decline, then meet Loki out the front.

"Uh-uh," I take my bike from him, "you're not driving."

"You don't know the way."

"I can read signs," I shrug, "there's one over there." I wrap my scarf around my face, then put on my goggles and get on the bike, waiting for Loki to do the same.

We end up having to drive to the next town for what we need, but it doesn't matter since we're leaving San Simeon anyway. Cambria is a nice town. Small, but nice, and it has plenty to choose from in the way of clothing stores. I end up going for the cheapest I can find in our sizes, which turns out to be a pair of sweat pants, a black long sleeved top and a grey hoodie for me, and a very similar ensemble for Loki. We match, how cute.

"Don't change yet," I say as we walk out with our stuff, "we gotta find a pharmacy and a place that sells cheap underwear."

The general store sells underwear, as I find out when I go inside to buy baked beans and a packet of condoms – just in case. I get a packet of underpants each, then grab my beans and return to Loki.
