Hero

Am I dreaming? Did Josephine Langford just tell me she loves me? I feel like my brain is lagging like a Nintendo 64 as I try to process everything that's just happened within the last 3 minutes. First off, Elle? Elle and Josephine... friends? Secondly, she's much happier than I expected, she almost seems... lighter. Like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders, and I've never seen her look more radiant and beautiful as she did standing before me slurping down her strawberry shake. It's like she's gotten the spark back in her eyes, and I can't help the swell of pride I feel that maybe I helped her get that back. Thirdly, I think all the blood rushed from my head to my dick when she took control and kissed me like that. I know she knows that I've been taking it easy, not wanting to push her further than she's comfortable with. But goddamn it feels good to feel her tongue entwined with mine again, the hint of strawberry igniting my taste buds.

And now. Now, she tells me she loves me? I'm at a loss for words. My head is spinning with lust and love and pride. All these weeks spent worrying that my feelings were unrequited and with three simple words she's made my wildest dreams come true. She loves me. Me. The family fuck-up, the angry child, the guy who has no idea what he wants to do with his life, and she loves me all the same. Could this just be some kind of weird transference from her support group? Is she on some kind of high that's misguiding her feelings? The doubts seep into my thoughts, but one look into her big blue eyes tells me the truth. All I see is vulnerability, trust, and love.

"Uh, I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to blurt that out," Josephine's wavering voice snaps me out of my inner monologue. Fuck. She thinks I don't feel the same. She averts her eyes from mine as I see the fire beginning to dwindle behind them and her shoulders sag.

"Hey," I tilt her chin up to meet my gaze again. "I love you, Josephine," I confess, and I just know I have the goofiest smile on my face, but I don't care. I'm a man in love! A man in love with the most amazing woman in the world and she loves me, too. A breathtaking smile overtakes her features at my admission, and in the blink of an eye her lips are back on mine. Our tongues dance a passionate tango before she pulls back to catch her breath.

"I love you," she whispers against my smiling mouth, biting my bottom lip and eliciting a moan from me. Hearing those words fall from her plump lips mixed with the pleasure of our embrace is driving me insane in the best way possible. I've never felt like this before. This unabashed need to be with someone, to protect her, to cherish her, to do everything in my power to make her know that she is loved.

"I love you," I whisper back, chuckling at the way we're acting like two lovesick teenagers in a shitty rom com. My arms wrap around her to pull her body as close to mine as possible, the bouquet of flowers still in my hands pressed against her back. Her right hand moves up to lace her fingers through my messy hair as her left hand still grips her milkshake. Her face turns serious as she studies my features like it's the first time she's seen me.

"Take me home, Hero," her eyes glaze over with lust as she gives my hair a slight tug, drawing another groan from deep in my chest.

"Are you sure?" I ask, although I know the look on my face shows nothing but my intense need to acquiesce her request.

"I said," her voice is dripping with seduction as the hand in my hair makes its way down my neck to my chest, pushing me back into the side of the car, "take me home," her hand continues its descent as she teases the skin just above my waistband under my thin t-shirt. Holy. Fucking. Shit. I can't even speak. I only audibly gulp and nod my head. She gives me a wicked smile, knowing she's getting what she wants as she takes a step back to allow me to make my way to the driver's side. It takes me a few seconds to get my bearings before I literally run around the car, hearing the beautiful sound of Josephine's laugh at my antics.
