Alone

Chapter 1

        It starts out in Clara's house. She awakes for school and goes to eat breakfast. While she is eating the breakfast she prepared her mother, Bridgette, enters the room. Immediately you can tell there is a dissension between the two. Clara is an only child who never knew her dad. Her mom is hungover at the moment but still decides to take her to school. The mother drives her to school in a mostly silent car ride, but she tries to strike up a conversation. Clara is unresponsive and asks to continue with the ride free of conversation. When Clara arrives at school she sees her best friend Destiny. Destiny has always been there for Clara through the good times and the bad. They walk together to their first period. She is instantly antagonized by Billy. Billy is very mean to Clara and she does not know why. He constantly makes fun of the way she dresses and the way she looks. After a few routine insults Destiny gets him to stop and the class begins. After an uneventful day of insults and ridicule she returns home. When she gets there her mom and her boyfriend are fighting. Clara hates her boyfriend. He is a mean and insensitive jerk. Their pet names are painstaking to her. He calls her butternut for no particular reason. The only reason she deals with him is because he's the father of that poor baby in her mom's stomach. After by-standing for a moment, Clara hides behind the stairs. She doesn't know what they are fighting about but at this point it's far from irregular. She thinks it might be about Bridgette wanting the baby to keep her name. After a slew of profanity he hits her and Clara runs at him to try to save her mom. He strikes her with even more velocity and tells her to go to her room. She rushes upstairs crying and she takes out a knife and cuts herself. It was 6:00. She doesn't usually do her daily cutting until 8:00.
