"Sihyeon, I really need your help."
Taehyung stared silently at the lawyer as she was reviewing over the paperworks that Gyuri had assembled before she fell asleep. She knew that she couldn't deny the other since she already knew the truth behind everything. She tried to change the topic a little by replying back with worry, "You have dark circles under your eyes...have you not been sleeping?"
"I need to get this case done and over with...you know I'm tired of carrying this out."
"I can't do anything to say yes. I already risked it when I gave you the information that you wanted."
Taeyhung sighed to himself as he stared down at his own hands as they were both sitting together outside the police station since the older needed some fresh air. She glanced at the other as it was nearly impossible for her to say yes to his request due to the risk of her own job. Taehyung then spoke up after much silence as he knew this would hit the spot, "I'm going to stop working here...this will be my last case."
"Are you insane? You worked your ass off to make sure you reached the place that you wanted? Didn't you want to reach the goal of where Seokjin oppa is?"
"I've been thinking about it for awhile.....what it would be like when I give up the hard things in life since I already lived through it all..if I rest finally and take the easy road for once."
Sihyeon sipped her coffee in a paper cup that Taehyung handed to her right when they met. She stared out towards the blue sky where the weather finally cleared up brightly to warm up the world that's been too cold to live in. She let out a sigh of relief as Taehyung turned his head to glance at her with a smile growing on his face as he asked, "What?"
"I'm just envious that you even thought about that. I'm scared about the people from below..who want to defeat me. Competition is key in this world. I'm also afraid of those who work in the same field with me. Those around me are the biggest enemies...even if we are friends, that's the one thing that keeps me on the end of my toes since this industry is all about being the top and the best."
Taehyung's senses all suddenly clicked as she spoke when each details started to play a picture in her head. He turned his head instantly as she was drinking her coffee as Taehyung exclaimed excitingly, "That's it."
Sihyeon almost burned her tongue as she jumped slightly when he suddenly made her jump since he was now focusing on connecting the dots. "What do you mean? What's it?"
Taehyung smiled his usual, handsome smile that she usually always sees since he wanted to impress her whenever he got the chance. But this time, this smile was a smile that signaled that he got a piece of evidence that he can build his theory off of. He stood up quickly as he thoughtlessly had his hand out to nudge Sihyeon's head gently as she complained in protest that she got her hair done recently.
"You just gave me the greatest piece of information that I can work with. Maybe this is why I should have listened to you when you asked for us to be partners. I got to go. I'll call you later!"
Gyuri woke up a few hours later as her memory started to replay what happened earlier when she was working with Jungkook and Taehyung. She remembered solving a small piece of the puzzle when she was explaining her own thoughts about the situation. She stood up carefully from the bunk bed as she started to freshen up as she changed into new pair of clothes and started her personal hygiene process of washing her face and teeth. She realized that Jungkook was on the bed above her as he was also knocked out, and she looked around the beds to see if Taehyung was asleep as well.
She tiredly made her way out of the resting rooms as she found Yoongi talking on the phone outside. She greeted him with a smile as he waved back at her as she realized that he was calling his wife. She quietly walked by him as she went to her desk to check her phone and answered a few text messages that arrived to her phone. Yohan's messages were not found as she also remembered that she embarrassingly declined his request to go on a date.
As she was about to head back to Taehyung's office, Jimin greeted her as he left the Taehyung's office carefully. She greeted him back quietly as he whispered in a cheerful tone, "Captain is finally sleeping. I think he was working on the case just before I went in since he's now passed out..I suggest you not waking him up since he probably will wake up in an hour or so."
Gyuri nodded quietly before she made her way inside like a mouse avoiding the sleeping cat. She knew that the moment she makes a noise, Taehyung would wake up from the dead to attack her. She glanced over at his desk as she noticed that he had his computer open with his notebook newly scribbled over as she quietly tiptoed her way over. She realized that he was working on a new theory that involved Jinyoung as a primary suspect, on the lines of 'closest companion = enemy'. She knew this theory as well but she never really thought of it since Jinyoung wouldn't seem like the type where he would hurt his own friend.
She also saw that this theory evolved after Taehyung met with Sihyeon, who would probably given the most clues of this case. She realized that she should go and visit the school to try and talk with school board to find out any other secrets that they have of the case since they are doing their best to stop any leaking information to be exposed. She was about to leave the office before realizing that Taehyung had his office at the coolest temperatures since he often kept it cold so that he wouldn't fall asleep.
Finding a nearby blanket, she unfolded the blanket before carefully placing over his body as she smiled to herself. She knew that Taehyung had a soft side despite his angering and annoying side that was hard to fix. But, on the times where he was passionately working along with others to fix the case, he seemed the most reasonable to work with. She felt proud to be placed on his team despite the difficulty of fitting in at first.
She slipped out of the office quietly as she immediately starting calling Sihyeon that she would need to approach the school with a warrant that the lawyer and the school board members cannot deny. Back in the office, Taehyung's eyes slowly opened as he took a peek around the room since he felt like he should sleep more properly now. He felt the blanket being placed on him, and he heard every little footstep that Gyuri tried to be quiet on. He even left the computer on so that he would be sure that Gyuri would curiously glance at it so that he could check.
But he didn't want to scare the other since he realized that he probably did that too much to her already. He knew that she would get the idea to quickly go to the school in order to get more information on the new theory that he developed on. He smiled to himself as he felt proud that he did so; he wanted her to be pushed into an officer who was passionate to always search the truth rather than just waiting around for an opportunity to open up because eventually that hard work would be benefitted properly.
Although Jimin and Jungkook were passionate to work, Taehyung immediately realized that Gyuri was on another level of chasing after the truth and opening up new theories that was different from the other detectives and officer. He was starting to admire her for that since she was slowly molding into the ideal image that he always looked up: Sihyeon.
