On my A-days, I go to 1st period, 2nd period, 3rd period, lunch, and then 4th period. But on my B-days, today, I go to 5th period, 6th period, lunch, 7th period, and then 8th period. As soon as the bell rings for us to head to our next class, I stand from my spot with popcorn crumbs all over my shirt. Thomas laughs softly and helps me brush them off.
"I think we have seminary together." He points out.
"We do. Peter does as well." I reply.
"What?" Peter asks as he looks over at us, "Why did you guys say my name?"
"Oh, I was just saying you have seminary with us." I clarify.
"Oh, makes sense. We should all walk together." Peter says as he stands from his spot.
We nod and say goodbye to our friends before we head out of our designated friend group spot and to the seminary building off campus.
"How's Eastside treating you Tommy Boy?" Peter asks as we walk down the hall, passing the gym.
"Tommy Boy. Haven't heard that one before. But Eastside is treating me very well. Taylor was very kind and showed me how to figure out where my classes are this morning." Thomas replies as he elbows me.
I bite my lip and grab my backpack straps.
Peter raises an eyebrow, "Did she now. She's a really nice girl isn't she."
I roll my eyes, "You guys know I'm right here, don't you?"
They both laugh to themselves as we approach the doors leading to the outside of the school.
Peter and Thomas both hold the doors for me.
I pull the corners of my mouth down, "Oh, thank you both."
"Wait, am I in your seminary class itself? Don't you have multiple teachers available?" Thomas points out as we enter the bitter cold winter air. A chilly and bone-rattling breeze blows in my face, blowing my lightly wavy hair behind my head.
"I'm not sure. You can come to our class and ask our teacher." Peter says.
"Wait, you two have the same seminary teacher?" Thomas asks.
Peter nods.
"Well, one can hope I'm in your class too."
If I didn't know any better, I would say Thomas is maybe a little jealous.
Thomas runs ahead and opens the doors for me as I enter the seminary building. I feel slightly embarrassed, having him literally fight to open doors and be chivalrous to me. Peter and I walk into Sister Shaw's classroom.
Sister Shaw is a super sweet lady who has gone through a lot in her life. Her husband was horribly killed during an incident at the Great Salt Lake. He was pinned upside down and died that way. Her family went searching for him and she had to see him like that. It sounded awful. She also has really mean family. She makes my life seem so simple and easy.
"Oh my! It seems like we have a new face in here!" she exclaims as Peter and I walk him up to her.
Thomas laughs softly, "Yeah, I transferred from another school. I don't know who my teacher is, and I was wondering if you could check for me."
"Well, I don't think we will have any trouble making room for one more in my class. Maybe you should join mine so you can stay with your friends."
"That sounds great. Thank you."
"No problem. Taylor and Peter, can you move seats to the back table? I'll have Raquelle and Hallee move to your old seats."
Peter and I nod as we move to the back table.
