I sat quietly in the car that was riding slowly towards the gala.
My dress tight around my body, thankfully it ended at my mid calf, but the tight black fabric did little to hide my figure, the tight material wrapping skillfully up my body, til it dissolved into a sheer fabric under my chest, letting it twist over my chest til it was just two straps.
It was of course all black, paired with a pair of dangerously high heels that Darla demanded I should wear.
"You usually at least pretend to listen to me when I talk, whats going on?" Darla snapped from beside me, my eyes watching on her bright red dress. It was much looser than mine, only pinched at her small waist, met with a strapless top that showed enough of her cleavage to make men trip.
I blinked over at her, tuning back in.
We were in the back of the company limo, we were supposed to be getting tipsy enough to last us through this gala.
"I kissed Silos" I whispered.
Her jaw dropped as she stared over at me, stunned, "you did what?"
I swallowed, "I kissed him, and he pretty much sprinted out of my bedroom" I winced, trying to block out the memory of his warm hands pressing me away from him, before he quickly turned and left.
Darla was looking at me frozen, while I tried to stop nervous sweating.
He was going to be here tonight, as well as his best friend that he most definitely probably told, who unfortunately was married to my annoying cousin, all of which I lived with.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
"He didn't kiss you back?" Darla choked, while I shook my head no, of course he hadn't kissed me back. He was in love with fucking Raina.
Even if no one else could see it, I could.
And I stupidly tried to act like that didn't matter.
My hands were shaking, "he's in love with Raina" I sighed, looking at my closest friend, letting the sadness finally crash into me.
I did like him.
He was surprisingly ... different from anyone else I had met.
Unmovable and yet, kind.
At least to me, and he made me smile, and laugh, even though I don't think he was actively trying.
Darla scoffed, "thats fucking gross. And if he likes her, then Zo you have no business liking that man. And I get it, I really do, he's fine as shit, but if he can't see that your worth literally a thousand Raina's then, fuck him. Fuck him and his lawyer!" she snapped, a new anger entering her voice.
I laughed, shaking my head at her, "since that got a little dark, you want to tell me what happened with you and Don?" I asked, already feeling lighter.
Anger clouded her whole face, "I thought he was different. We had a great date, great dinner, and then an even better night, and I wake up naked and alone. Men suck, I haven't gotten a single call and I'm going onto day three, so fuck him and his employer, assholes."
I winced, "you didn't call him?"
She shot me an annoyed look, "considering I was on top most of the night, I think he deserves to call me, not the other way around."
I closed my eyes, "that was too much information."
"Just thought I should share" she laughed, "you know what, we are both getting laid tonight, fuck them, fuck those losers."
