~Nini Salazar-Roberts~
"Nini your finally her- oh well hello Ricky!" Carol, one of Nini's mom said while holding a large bowl of salad. "Hello Carol, is it okay for me to be here?" Ricky asked. "Of course, will you be staying for dinner?" Ricky shook his head. "We'll be upstairs in my room." Nini said while grabbing Ricky's hand, pulling him towards the steps.
"No funny business Bowen!" "Okay!" Ricky shouted back and Nini became red in embarrassment.
The two entered the room and Nini sat on her bed while Ricky looked around. "You still play?" He asked, holding up her ukulele. "Yeah, I've just been so busy with the musical that I haven't had time to play." Ricky handed the ukulele to her and kept looking around.
Nini began strumming a tune from when she was younger. "A little song about clouds." Ricky said and Nini looked at him. "Yeah, my first original song I ever wrote, looking back, I could have done better..." Ricky just laughed.
"What?" Nini asked. "Nothing, it's just, your very hard on yourself, and that little song about clouds was my favorite when I was younger so I feel offended." Nini just playfully rolled her eyes.
"When did you get this?" Ricky asked pointing to a Vinyl record player. Nini stood up and walked over to the player. "When I was young, I didn't really know what it was so I just put it in my closet, I recently got it back out though." Ricky nodded. "I have like a bunch of records to play, I got most of them from Ashlyn." Nini picked up the basket near her closet and placed it on her bed.
"Some of these are a little old school..." Ricky said while looking through the basket. "That's Ashlyn for you." Nini said. Ricky then picked up an Ed Sheeran record. "Why not get the regular song?" Nini looked at the record. It was the Acoustic version of I don't care. "I actually like this version better." Nini told him.
Ricky then got an idea. He took the record and lifted up the fragile glass case from the vinyl player and placed the record on it. He lifted the stylus and softly placed it down onto the record.
"May I have this dance?" Ricky asked, holding a hand out towards Nini. Nini laughed and took his hand. She wrapped her arms around him while he did the same for her waist.
He pulled her closer and it felt like they were the only two people in the world. Everything else was blocked out. It was just Ricky, Nini, and the music. The light sound of the music flowing through the room while the two were just staring at one another.
They rocked back and fourth to the song. Nini placed her head on Ricky's shoulder and closed her eyes. She smiled to herself. She felt safe and happy while being in Ricky's arms and she just wanted to stay there forever.
Ricky was glad that Nini was forgiving him. He always regretted the day he didn't say I love you back. He hoped she still loved him. He knew her heart was broken after Ricky asked for a break and after she decided to break up with Ej
He wanted to fix their relationship but mostly their friendship. He didn't only lose her as a girlfriend but as a best friend. He looked at the photos above her bed and it was filled with memories of her friends, her family, and him.
She never took down the photos from when they were young or during the time when they were still together. He noticed a photograph of her and Ej but he just ignored knowing they aren't together anymore.
"Cause I don't care as long as you just hold me near. You can take me anywhere. And your making me feel like I'm loved by somebody. I can deal with the bad nights when I'm with my baby, yeah."
"You know, we should do this more often." Nini said quietly so she could still feel the vibe of the music. "This will be the only time your seeing me dance to a slow song, so treasure it." Nini giggled when Ricky carefully twirled her around.
"When you said you loved me in the closet, you meant it, right?" Nini asked and placed her head on his shoulder once again. "Yeah, it probably isn't the best spot for me to confess my love for you but it's better late than never." Nini smiled once again.
"Don't think we fit in at this party, Everyone got so much to say, yeah. When we walked in I said I'm sorry. But now I think that we should stay."
Nini thought of there past memories together and how they knew each other there whole lives basically.
"Angel?" Nini blushes at the nickname. She hums as if saying 'yes'. "Can I kiss you?" He asks.
She looks up at him and smiles. Instead of answering him, she just leans in forward and places her lips onto his.
She feels him smile through the kiss and he pulls her closer. The song continued and the two separated. Smiles were attached to their faces. "Forget what I said earlier, I'm dancing too slow songs more often." He said and Nini just playfully rolled her eyes.
"Ricky, I just got a call from your da- oh sorry am I interrupting something?" Carol said. Nini's face went red and Ricky laughed at the sight.
"Don't worry Carol, I'll be getting home before this one turns into cherry." Carol laughs while leaving the room. "I gotta go, see you at school?" He says. She nods and takes his hand while leading him down the steps and out the door.
Nini's moms wave goodbye and Nini gives him a hug. He hugs her back and begins his walk back home.
