I knew that Janet was not fond of me going out again. She did not lose a word over it but her face expression was obvious enough.

Alice was in the living room sat on the couch and watched some kind of movie about vampires and werwolfs and all that stuff. I did not get what was so fascinating about superhuman creatures that suck other peoples' blood. It made no sense to forbid her watching it though. As soon as I would be walking out the door Janet would allow her to watch it again. Janet was very relaxed with such things and always made fun of me being over protective.

"Alice will watch it on her phone if you won't allow her to watch it on tv", she had told me when I had complained about her letting my daughter watch something as violent as this vampire movies. "It's better if you alloww it and watch it with her so you know about what she's watching. And kids are not the same as when we were young, Niall. They are harder to take. If you already go nuts over someting as harmless as a stupid vampire movie what on earth will you do when she starts watching porn? It will happen and she will watch it, you know that. Be happy that she's only watching that now."

To me those movies were not harmless and I'd rather not let her watch it but I guess I might overreact a little since I still watched the teletubbies at her age. Times are changing and I would probably have to deal with the fact that she wouldn't want to watch peppa pig anymore.

"How was your date?", I asked Janet to break the heavy silence between us.

"It was good. He is really nice. We will meet again next week", she answered briefly.

Shit, she really was not content that I was going out. I nodded and smiled at her while I bend down to tie my shoes.

"What's his name?"

"Mathew"

Janet never talked that little. Unless she was terribly pissed and angry that is.

"Uhm, I guess I will be back at around eleven..."

Janet gave me a small nod and grabbed the newspaper that was lying on the kitchen table. She began to browse through it until she found an article that seemed to catch her interest.

"Okay, bye then", I treid to sound happy and cheerfull but it somehow turned out to sound unsure and anxious.

When was almost out the door Janet lifted her head and called my name. I turned around, surprised by her actions.

"Be careful", she told me with a serious look on her face.

"It's ony Julia, Louis, Shawn, Zayn and me. There's no reason why I should not be alright", I gave her to remember. It was literally just me and my friends having a fun night out. There would be no Luke and no Graham. No one who could do something to me. It would be a safe place, no need to worry.

"I know", Janet said, the same look plastered on her face and a slight approach of concern in her eyes. "But be careful, Niall. I mean it. Please."

"I will be", I assured her before stepping out of the door.

Maybe the last incident at the KIWI made Janet a little bit more concerened than she usually was. I felt like Janet always worried about me. From the day I dropped out of school until now she always had an eye on me. I complained a little because of that every now and then but to be quite honest I was more than happy to have her by my side. She and Louis were the only people who never ever left my side. They went through absolutly everything with me. However Janet was the one who was more of a protector than Louis was. From time to time I felt annoyed by the fact that she always felt the need to tell me how I should handle things and what I should be doing. In her presence I often felt like I was sixteen again. Stupid, helpless and lonely. She never intended to make me feel that way, I know that.
