📌The squads outfit for their day out.
"THAT'S WHY YOU'RE mad at her?" Malik's tone alone made me feel as if I was being irrational about the whole situation.
"Now's not the time to be insensitive, Ray," Kat added to Malik's words and I couldn't help but stare hard at their heads.
I wish I could do it to their faces but Malik was driving and Kat was in the passenger's seat. Malik noticed the expression on my face through the rearview mirror and gave me a pointed look.
So now I'm being insensitive?
"I know that if I ever had something like that to tell Kaden," Kat resumed, adding some more lipstick to her already red lips, "I'd want him to understand that it wasn't easy for me at all in any way. I could only imagine that her telling you all was like ripping through an old scar. The wound is gone but the memory from that scar is never certainly gone."
My fingers caressed my scar and my shoulders slumped at the brutal truth of Kat's words.
How did they manage to get me out of the house on a beautiful Saturday, only to make me feel remotely guiltier than when I left?
"But she should've informed the family way before. She owes them that much, especially Mr. Mitchell. That's my two cents," Bre asserted, heading back to candy crush.
This girl was on level 2,000.
I don't even know where and how she found the time to even pass all those previous levels.
I peeked at Hakeem who was beside me, messaging Brooklyn with a flushed face. "Whatdya think, Keem?"
He thought about it for a few moments. "I know that you need to be talking to your mother about this. There's always a reason behind our actions, Ray."
"Come through with the wise words, King," Lola exclaimed. She was in the seat behind us playing a few games with Kaden on ABC mouse while snacking on veggie chips.
Hakeem chuckled, "Don't be so surprised, Bubbles."
Malik tightened his face into a grimace. "He's simply playing it safe."
"Can't someone do something great for once without you being bitter about it?" Lola shot. "Your soul is miserable. Do something about it."
It was evident that Lola's acrimonious statement infuriated Malik because he did a sharp halt into the available parking spot.
Kat roughly swatted Malik's shoulder. "Watch it, Malik. Don't jeopardize the safety of my child because of you and Lola's unresolved issues."
"Guys, stop!" I nearly shouted, cutting whatever words that Malik was about to say short. "I've heard what you all had to say. Thank you very much, but I'm sure you all didn't practically drag me out of my house, do my hair and makeup and dress me up to talk about my secretive mother."
I gave myself a once over, secretly admiring the outfit Kat choose for me. It was a simple white T-shirt with a black fitted blazer, slightly loose jeans and a pair of my ankle high white converse from my closet.
The whole look was comfortable with a touch of individuality. Kat seriously knew her stuff about fashion whereas Lola had a knack with makeup. She was able to enhance my look without making me look any different than I naturally am.
"Well....you do look different," Malik mumbled as we all got out of the car. "You used to look so plain, but now you look hot."
"Says the boy who used a cheesy line on me, thinking that I was someone else," I snorted as the others laughed. "C'mon, let's go have fun!"
