This whole story or "encyclopedia" as my creative writing teacher likes to call it is based on my own "ordinary" life. At the beginning of this semester, my teacher was really insistent that we tried to be creative and reflect on our own experiences through writing. It wasn't required for us to write in poems but personally, that is how I write best. Another goal my teacher offered was for us to dabble in publishing and share our works on a public platform. Seeing as I have already posted several other things on this source to gain feedback I thought it only right to do the same with this short story of sorts. I'm really excited for everyone to learn a little more about me through these poems, strangers and friends alike.
Each of these entries is based on things I've personally experienced, enjoyed, hated, or simply things about me. Some of the suggested topics were given were: favorites things (books, colors, sports, etc.), inspiring artists/writers, personal experiences, middle names, family members (including pets), Smells those trigger memories, Items that trigger memories, Present-day controversies, etc.
This project was a really good building experience for my writing as well as help me figure out my own mental health. There is no lying when you write poetry, all emotion needs to be present on the page before you can form and mold it into something beautiful. I would 100% recommend doing this for yourself if you're struggling with your own mental health, or just need a really fun writing project. If you do choose to write your own please message me! I would absolutely love to read everyone's stuff!!
