Droplets of gray rain pelted mercilessly on the concrete, the water washing away the individuality and marks of the pathways made by previous humans. [Name] observed quietly, her skin chilled by the cool and dark droplets, her tresses of [h/c] sticking to the back of her neck due to the weather.
Any sane person would be inside the UA dorm buildings, resting for the next day of hard schoolwork and hero training they would encounter. In fact, the girls from class 1-A were all downstairs in the common area, lounging around as they casually talked.
"Hey, where's [Name]?" A certain, bubbly brunette asked. Ochaco had looked around to see all her friends except for the [h/c] haired girl that she had a fascination with.
"Come on Ochaco, you know that girl never hangs out with us!" Mina said, furrowing her eyebrows. "Every time we ask her to come hang out with us, she says no! And she always keeps her distance from us! It must be because of her quirk..."
"Yeah. If you've ever gotten close enough to experience her quirk, you'll see that you'll get sad involuntarily. It's a useful quirk in battling, because it can cause villains to feel emotions of sorrow and grief. But it's not that great in everyday life..." Momo said. "Someone like that isn't easy to hang out with... As much as I hate to say it. Why are you asking for her?"
Ochaco couldn't help but to wonder about her- many would say that her [e/c] eyes were always soft and sad, as if there was constantly a rain cloud over her head. But Ochaco had always thought the girl's eyes were beautiful, different shades of [e/c] mixing into one beautiful wheel. She had always thought that [Name]'s eyes held some sort of brightness hidden in the dark, even though nobody else thought so.
'It's her quirk,' People would gossip. 'It makes everyone around her sad. That's why she's always sad-nobody wants to be around her.'
Ochaco herself had seen the effects of [Name]'s quirk on people. She felt bad for the [h/c] girl, which is why whenever the girls of Class 1-A would plan to get together, Ochaco would ask or text [Name] to join. But the girl always had some sort of excuse as to why she couldn't join, and then immediately wandered off, keeping far away from the brunette girl.
Not today! Ochaco thought, determined. Today I'm going to get that girl to hang out with me!
Conveniently, the brown haired girl looked outside the window to see a familiar figure in the courtyard, sitting on a bench.
"[Name]? What is she doing out there?"
"Hey! Where are you going, kero?" Tsuyu questioned, as the cute girl ran outside of the building into the dark and rainy courtyard.
"[Name]!!!" She cupped her hands around her mouth as she yelled, trying to stand her ground against the ever increasing wind. The girl's head whipped around, eyes widened. Upon seeing Ochaco, she sighed and turned around, once again glaring at the ground.
"Hey! You should come hang ou-"
"No thanks." [Name] cut her off, quickly, as if she knew the brunette would pester her for her time from the beginning.
Ochaco frowned. Usually, when [Name] refused-which was every time she asked- she would leave her alone, not wanting to push. But today, the girl huffed and crossed her arms, pouting.
"Well, then I'm going to sit here with you."
[Name] looked up with surprise, a small pink tinge developing on her cheeks as she looked into the cute girl's brown eyes. They were deep and warm.
"You realize what will happen if you get close to me, right?" [Name] said, her voice standoffish. "You'll get sad. That's why I don't hang out with people. That's why I don't have friends. Because I make everyone sad. Why don't you understand that?"
Ochaco showed no sign that she was fazed by the girl's tone. She walked closer, and closer... And sat shoulder to shoulder with the girl.
"Don't worry! I can handle your quirk. Let's be optimistic! I'll be fine!"
[Name] grimaced and prepared for the worst. Usually, when affected by her quirk, people would start to do a multitude of things-scream, cry, even hurt themselves if it was too drastic. Even worse, her quirk was about to hurt the girl that she'd had a secret crush on forever, basically since the first day of school.
Good grief, I'm going to have to protect her and make sure she doesn't do anything to herself. What a- Wait. Why isn't anything happening?
[Name] looked at Ochaco with shock, as the brown eyed girl was still happily smiling and talking to her about random things.
"You're not... You're not affected by my quirk?" [Name] questioned, shock in her eyes.
Ochaco shrugged. "I guess not!"
The girl then grinned and lay her head on [Name]'s shoulder, a sign of affection and friendship. [Name] couldn't help but smile gently, as the girl made conversation with her, her bubbly voice calming.
And all of a sudden, a miracle happened- the rain stopped and the grey clouds cleared, uncovering the twinkling stars in the night sky. Ochaco turned to [Name] and smiled her signature, happy smile, making it seem like all the stars in the night sky were 10 times brighter. But not as bright as the girl sitting next to her.
❝SO, [NAME]. NOW THAT WE'RE FRIENDS, WANNA GO OUT SOMETIME? ❞
