Ever so slowly, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close into him so that no space was between them. She stared up into his eyes, entranced by his gaze. She was completely vulnerable and all of the willpower she had faded into nothing.
He brought a hand up to her cheek, his thumb caressing her gently, though her glassy eyes made no change. His hand traveled to her hair as he pulled it back. He leaned in, drawing closer to her. He breathed in her scent, before pressing his lips to her neck. But, then, he opened his mouth and his fangs pierced her skin.
"Emma. Emma. Emma! Hello, Earth to Emma."
Snapping back into reality, Emma's gaze averted from the window and she looked back to her friend, Christina, who was sitting on the other side of the table.
"Didn't you hear me?" She questioned.
"Uh, no. Sorry, what were you saying?"
"I was talking about this little short story. Look at the art on this page. Isn't it cool?" She looked down to the book that was on the table, in between her and Christina.
Emma looked down at the book, which consist of dark fantasy art and some even had poems or short stories on the pages.
"This vampire looks super hot. Don't you think?" Christina asked, her finger tracing the picture of the vampire, who was drinking the blood from a very beautiful woman.
"You think all vampires are hot. I don't think there was a single vampire that you don't like. Even the ones who, honestly, didn't need the hype that you gave them."
"That's so not true."
"Yeah? You were a hardcore Team Edward fan when that Twilight series came out."
"I was also like 11. Cut me some slack."
"You were willing to fight anyone who talked smack about Edward, who, literally, is a fictional character mind you. And your username you had was 'Mrscullen0214.'"
"I find it disturbing you remember my middle school username for computers."
"I find it disturbing you had your entire wedding planned out. You wanted it on Valentine's Day, which is very cliche, if I'm being honest."
"Well, anyway, I can't help it. There's just something alluring about a being with supernatural powers and immortality. I'm a vampire freak. Just once, I would like to know what it's like to be bitten. I bet it feels super euphoric."
"And why would it feel like that?"
"Well, think about it. A vampire with a gaze that hypnotizes you, makes you feel like your floating, and when the fangs sink into your skin, I can imagine the tingles that would course through my body."
"I highly doubt that."
"Oh, yeah? Then, why does every chick that gets bitten moan like it feels good?"
"Obviously you learned nothing from Twilight. I don't think Bella thought that getting bitten felt good when James bit her."
"Okay, well those vampires are a different type of vampire. True vampires, like Dracula, he hypnotizes his prey. Which I think is pretty cool."
"You're very weird, Christina, you know that, right?"
"Yeah, but you love me anyway."
"Up for debate." Emma said as she stood up.
"What?!"
Emma smiled as she picked up her bag and began to walk out of the library.
Christina and Emma have known one another for years, having met each other when they were in sixth grade. Though they were practically opposites in personality and physical looks, they connected and became close friends. Even now, who are both Juniors in high school.
