The days seemed to blur together. But, life didn't wait for Emma. Spending her days as a regular girl was proving to be difficult as she spent her nights with Garrett, Asher, and Cole. And now, Emma was facing midterms of the first semester. And leaving most nights was starting to cause a negative impact on Emma's grades.

Not that Emma was a straight A student, but she usually kept her grades high, except for math and science classes, for those she has always struggled with. But, now, her grades were definitely suffering, even her better classes.

It was another evening and Emma was at her desk, books open as she worked on her assignments that she hadn't turned in, then she would have to focus on her study guides.

She heard a knock at her window. She looked up and saw Garrett outside, waiting. She let out a gasp and looked at the clock, seeing that it was a quarter past eight.

"Oh, no." She groaned as she stood up. She walked to her window, opened it, and Garrett climbed in.

"Good evening, Emma." He said.

"Hi, Garrett."

"Shall we go?" He asked.

Emma looked to her assignments and bit her lip.

"Yeah, let me put my shoes on." She went to her bed and sat down and began to put her shoes on. But, she stopped herself and sighed, "Actually, Garrett, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?"

"Truth is, I'm behind on some homework and I need to study for my midterms. Is there any way I can stay here tonight? Please?"

"How behind are you?"

"I'm not very far behind, but it's not the assignments I'm really worried about. It's doing the study guides, because the tests is what will impact my grade. I didn't think it'd get this bad, but my night life with you is starting to show up in my day life and it's not a good thing."

"Just for your work?" Garrett sat down on the sill of the window.

"No, not just that. Seems that my friend, Christina, has found a study buddy in her new boyfriend. I've had to bail on her a lot recently, because I keep leaving to go with you. We used to do everything together, but I think she thinks I don't have time for her anymore. Which...in a way, she isn't wrong."

Garrett stared at her.

"You know, she and I would always catch the late night movies on the weekends," Emma continued, "We wouldn't come back home till like 12:30 or one in the morning. But, as of late, she's been hanging out with her new boyfriend more and more. I can't really fault her for that."

"She doesn't understand why you haven't been able to be around, right?"

"No. Telling someone I am around vampires every night doesn't sound believable, although she does like vampires, but I think she'd think I was making fun of her. She does know about you and the others, not much, but I couldn't lie to her. So, all I said was that I was spending more time with you, Asher, and Cole. But, even though she hasn't said it to my face, I think she believes you're college boys and I'm leading a wild, rebellious life."

"College boys?"

"Yeah. You see, I'm still in high school. College is a place where you can attend after you graduate high school. But, people who are in college are typically in their late teens to early 20's, but anyone of any age can be in college. I keep telling Christina I'm not hanging with college boys, but saying that I'm hanging out with three boys on a pretty frequent basis doesn't sound that promising. And she doesn't know you either, so she doesn't have anything to go by, other than my words."
