xlii. ticking clock

"CAN ANYONE HEAR me? This is Kya. Can anyone hear me, damn it?" Kya yells.

"K, it's me. You okay?" Kya hears Bellamy's voice sound through the radio.

"I'm alive. I won." Kya states, glancing towards Indra. "Bell, what the hell did you do?"

"It wasn't me, but I'll fix it." Bellamy replies.

"You don't have much time." Indra mutters.

Kya looks up at the woman, shaking her head. "We don't have much time." Kya stresses. "I know how much you mean to Octavia and I know how much you meant to Lincoln. I was going to let you and Gaia come with us." At Kya's confession a look of thankfulness washes over Indra's face. Bringing the radio to her lips, Kya begins speaking. "Listen when I won and we came down here to see all the guards knocked out the Ambassadors wanted blood. They believe we cheated. They don't think we should be aloud in the bunker anymore. They think everyone should be aloud in it. 100 from each clan. My dad is out there helping them select their people, and Gaia somehow convinced the scouts to lock down the temple."

"Copy that. I'm on my way." Bellamy exclaims. The radio turns off for a moment before it suddenly buzzes back to life. "Kya, I'm gonna need some time."

"Wait. What?" Kya questions. "Bellamy, they don't have time. Bellamy?"

"They've made their choice, Kya. We have to find another way in." Indra begins as she wraps a cut on Kya's arm.

"You heard Bellamy." Kya turns to Indra. "He sounded frightened, worried, this wasn't him and Clarke. And besides there is no other way. This one stayed hidden for 100 years."

"Then we should break it open." Indra states.

"Well then it won't protect us." Kya tells her. "It won't protect anyone. Bellamy will find a way, him or Clarke."

"The black rain is keeping the clans at bay for now. But when it stops and they find out what your people did there will be hell to pay." Indra finishes wrapping Kya's bandage.

"I wondered why Kane was stalling." At the familiar voice Kya jumps up, sword already in her hand.

"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you." Kya exclaims, pointing her sword towards Echo.

Echo ignores the blonde, staring at the closed bunker door. "Skaikru dishonors us all yet again. When the people find out, you'll pay for this in blood."

Before Echo can walk away Kya calls out. "Skaikru wasn't the only clan that showed dishonor at the conclave. Was it? I know you were disguised as a warrior on the battlefield, and I know Roan caught you. I even know that he banished you for it."

"Is this true?" Indra questions, glancing between Kya and Echo.

"If the scouts check the blue cliff warrior's body, they'll find Azgeda arrows." Kya states.

"And Roan did not have a bow." Indra remarks. "Azgeda broke the rules. They should not have a place in this bunker."

"The entire clan shouldn't have to suffer because of one persons sins." Kya exclaims, walking closer to Echo.

"What do you want?" Echo glares.

"Only for you to honor your king." Kya begins, hoping this would give Clarke and Bellamy enough time to get the bunker door open. "Help us keep this a secret."

"Is your plan to wait?" Echo questions, both eyebrows raised. "To hope Bellamy comes to your rescue."

"Yes." Kya mumbles.

Echo is still for a moment before she nods her head. "Knowing how he feel about you, I'd say that's a good plan."

It's couple hours later when Gaia comes running into the temple. "The rain has stopped. The clans are coming. Should we stop them?"

Kya sighs as she thinks. She knew this wasn't Clarke or Bellamy, but she had just risked her life to win this bunker and now someone was willing to risk it. "No. Let them come. It is time to face the fire."

Suddenly the bunker door opens. Kya whips around as Bellamy walks out, running towards him, she jumps into his arms. "Oh, I knew you'd come through."

"I love you so much." Bellamy whispers, tears running down his face.

"Kya, they are here." Indra calls as Kya pulls away from Bellamy.

Kya turns to the crowd entering the temple. "As Heda ai laik telling yu kom pick your best 100. Emo laik the kru chon will be kikon down der. (As Commander I am telling you to pick your best 100. Those are the people who will be living down there.) Kya announces before yanking her sword from its sheath. Before anyone can breathe Kya already has it placed against Echo's throat. "Except you."

"We had a deal." Echo begins. "You said-"

"I said your people shouldn't have to suffer because of your sins. I didn't say anything about you. You can tell them we stole the bunker if you want, but the door's open now, so..." Kya whispers, leaning towards Echo.

"Be thankful knowing your banishment will be short." Indra speaks up.

"Praimfaya awaits." Echo raises her brows, a smirk on her face, though Kya can tell it's fake. With nothing left to say Echo turns and leaves.

Kya glances towards the crowd, backing away from the bunker. "Mosa houm." (Welcome home.)

"This facility won't run itself." Kane mumbles as they look over the map of the bunker.

"We'll need to prioritize doctors and engineers." Abby exclaims.

"All right. Of course we go for Raven." Kane begins.

"You call this justice?" Jaha questions.

Kya slams her fists on the table, making everyone jump. "You don't get a say. This is your fault, Jaha. I won the damn conclave. If you hadn't of moved everyone in we would have been fine, we wouldn't have to share it. We would all be dead if it wasn't for Bellamy opening the bunker in time."

"You let this happen." Jaha exclaims, turning towards Bellamy. "How many of us have to die?"

"You're lucky it's not all of you." Indra mutters.

"Lucky?" Jaha breathes out.

"We have 100 spots." Kane states. "The other clans have all... have all chosen their survivors. We have to do the same."

Jaha nods, tears coming to his eyes. "100. We have over 4 times that."

"A pain that all clans feel." Octavia speaks up.

"Is this what you wanted?" Jaha turns to Kya.

Kya shakes her head, thinking of the list she made. "No one wanted this. I'm Commander now, which means I am in charge of everyone here. The death wave comes in 23 hours. We've got to decide."
