My heart sunk to the bottom of my stomach, looking at my corporal, hiding his face in shame now that I was standing over his desk, worrying my bottom lip.
Taking a huge gulp, I decide to speak up. "Sir ..I-I'm sorry about ...the ..." I heard my voice fade away as I turned to look back at his door. When I turned back to look at him, he only shook his head.
"It's fine. Look. We'll talk about ...what happened with you and Jean later. There's more important matters to discuss currently."
Damn his good vocabulary.
"O-Okay. What is it, sir?" I stutter out, taking a seat in front of his desk.
Levi stared at me for about a minute with his calmed eyes, "You don't have to call me 'sir' everytime you direct a sentence towards me. We're .." His voice somewhat faded away, his gaze flicking away. "We're friends aren't we?"
I stayed silent. Friends? I've never really heard him call me a friend. I always assumed that we were friends, and I knew we were, actually. But I've never heard actually heard him call me a friend. Because of this, I didn't know how to react. My brain did, though, in a stupid matter. I felt my face heaten and redden for no apparent reason at all, I only stared at him. A couple times, he'd glance my way. Eventually, after not saying anything for a while, Levi cleared his throat and perked a brow, still looking away, but looking somewhat disappointed now. Shit, did he think that me not responding meant I didn't think of him as a friend?
"A-Anyway ..." Levi stuttered out, resting on his elbows now
.
My eyes widened, mouth opening wide,
"No!"
Levi somewhat flinched at my sudden burst. Slowly, he pushed away from his desk and away from me, never removing his gaze from my eyes, his own being opened wide.
Stuttering, I manage to say something to reassure the Corporal. "N-No! I mean ..I-I mean no as in ..as in we are friends. I think ... Right?" My face cringed up with worry, wondering what his answer would be. I watched his face carefully, nervously twiddling my thumbs near my waist. As I watched, the Captain's face slowly turned red. I gave off a giggle, bringing a hand to cover my mouth.
"Levi, you're blushing!" I shouted out with small, muffled, giggles.
"I-I ...", Levi stuttered out, frantically waving his arms around, aiming for my shirt collar.
I'd skillfully dodge every clutch he'd throw at me. With a year of practice, this was a piece of cake. With every dodge, my giggles soon turned into small laughs, then turning into loud laughs that couldn't stop. Suddenly, my eyes widened as i felt a strong force pulling me forth. Out of reactoin, I had squeezed my eyes shut. Soon after realizing that it was the Captain that had gotten a hold of my collar, I slowly opened my eyes to reveal his face only inches away from mine.
Blinking a few times, I began to grin widely. "Levi?"
Levi mimiced my actions, blinking a few times and looking down, then back into my eyes, his face still as red as a tomato."Yes?"
I giggled once, bringing my face a bit closer, our noses almost touching. I watched carefully for the Captain's reaction, and just barely got one. Levi slightly smiled, but was quick to wipe it away. "You looked really c-cute."
I surprisingly found myself stuttering, which was strange at these types of occassions. Usually, I was calm. Then, of course, usually when I say stuff like this to him, I'm just teasing him and kidding around. This time ..This time I actually meant it.
