My grin slowly faded, eyes half lidded now, staring into the Corporal's eyes. Was this the moment that i've been waiting for so long? My eyes scanned his face, noticing every small detail of his beautiful face that I've never payed much attention to. His sharp, yet delicate nose. His grand jaw structure, with his extraordinarily thin eyebrows, hair dripping into his gorgeous, intimidating, grey eyes. After examining his face, my eyes began to slowly close. Without noticing, my hand slipped on top of his, to which Levi slightly twitched.
"Levi ...~" I murmured out, moving my mouth near his ear. I heard Levi's shaky breath as he took a loud swallow.
"Y-Yes?" He stuttered out.
Suddenly, my eyes opened wide. Immediately, I was quick to retreat my hand, hiding it behind my back as I stepped away, leaving the Corporal hanging over the desk, staring at me, then dropping his sight to the ground.
"Y-You mentioned there were important stuff we must discuss?" I stuttered out as well, holding one arm and looking away. Never again. I could never make eye contact with him again. Or so, I thought. It'd take a while to get over what just happened. I'd never felt that way before. I was always used to teasing and playing around, but that felt real. I needed to get away from this situation as soon as possible, and luckily, I remembered that Levi did invite me in to discuss something.
"Right ...sorry."
"I-It's alright, Ca-"
"Your performances have greatly increased, Eren."
I blinked a couple times, staring at Levi. Had he just interuppted me in order to change the subject as soon as possible? I only slightly nodded,
"Thank you, sir ..."
Levi nodded as well, "Don't mention it, it's the truth. Immediately after putting you into my squad training sessions, I've noticed that you've been trying harder and harder at your excercises. I only wanted you to be aware of this, if you weren't already for a specific reason."
"That reason would be?"
"When we go out into our mission next week in ..." Levi opened a drawer to take out a calendar, looking at it with a focused face, "in four days. We're leaving Monday, early in the morning. Anyways, when we go out into our mission, I need you to put all your focus into your actions that day."
I stared at him in awe. How did he recover from that embarassing moment in such a short amount of time? Nodding, I look into his eyes daringly.
"Sir, might I apologize?"
Levi took a while to look at me, "About?"
"What happened with Jean back there? It's been happening a lot more, lately. I feel really bad about starting fights with him, and I-"
"Why."
I stopped, looking at him. "Why ...what what?"
Levi shuffled around in his chair, clasping his hands together. "Why do you two fight?"
I pursed my lips in thought. I've never really known a real reason why we do. "I suppose it's just because we never got along from the start, sir. It gets worse and worse each day. It doesn't really bother me, though."
The Corporal had his eyes closed, listening to everything I said. Eventually, he spoke up. "Don't worry about it. I'm not mad or anything, really. It'd just be nice to have my squad get along with one another. I'm sure your emotions towards one another in the battlefield will change once we're out there, though. Don't let it bother or distract you, okay?"
I nodded once firmly, "Of course, Captain."
Levi stared at me for a moment, squinting. "Eren. You didn't shower, did you?"
"Gk! I-I ..." My face immediately turned red as I zapped my gaze around, looking for something to stare at.
Surprisingly, Levi gave off a chuckle as he stood up and walked around his desk towards me.
I hid my face into my hands and drooped my head down, avoiding the Captain. I didn't think our meeting would be this long, and he immediately called me into his office after he saw me and Jean, I had no choice! Eventually, I felt a hand drape around my shoulders, and very soft breathing next to me, with an aroma of mint and tea floating about.
"Tch, I'm not going to hate you for that. But, do shower when you get out, will you?"
I didn't nod, I didn't say anything, I didn't respond, I was too embarassed for no reason. All I knew was that my face was as red as a tomato, and thinking about that made my face redden even worse. I felt a little shake, then heard the Captain's voice again.
"Eren?"
I heard a small, high pitched whistle. "Eren?" Then a sigh.
"Shower and make sure to eat, if you haven't already."
Afterwards, there were footsteps and a door creaking, then silence. Finally, I looked up and around to find myself alone. Standing up ever so slowly, I stepped out and quickly dashed to the restroom. Shutting the door behind me, I leaned against it and slid down the door. When I reached the bottom with a small thud, I grinned widely. That whole experience was both magical, and eerie.
