The buzzing sound of my alarm brought me out of my dream land. The sun rays were falling across my bed from the window. Waking up really sucks especially to someone like the Queen Anu(me) that too after such a very long and fabulous vacation. We went across the country visiting as many places as we could because I would be very soon joining in college and probably won't be able to spend much time with my family.

I got out of my bed, went to the bathroom and did my chores. Then I changed into denim shorts and a tank top and went downstairs to the kitchen. Mom (Madhu) was there making us breakfast and dad (Vishal) was sitting on the couch in the living room,  going through the newspaper. My eyes caught our little devil sitting on the floor and drawing in her art book.  I picked her up and started shaking heavily.

"Let me go Anu", Swetha squealed amidst of her laughs. " You are ruining my peaceful morning."

"Well looks like someone got out of their bed" ,dad said looking towards us.

I let Swetha down and turned around to smile back at my father. He immediately gestured me towards the empty cushion beside him. I went to him and gave him a small hug before moving towards the chair.

"I’m going to miss this devil dad", I told my dad looking towards Swetha. She has always been my partner in crime and we always used to move around the house causing all the trouble we could without getting scolded by our parents.

Swetha got up from the floor and came running to me and hugged me. "I’m also going to miss you sis", she said holding me as hard as she can.

She just completed her upper primary and would be joining high school. For a 13yr old girl, Swetha is so strong, far better than a 17yr old like me. She has always heard all my nonsense very patiently. I was wondering how I'm going to live without her being around. The thought itself brought tears to me.

"We already talked about this Anu", my sister Trisha said who was sitting next to dad, “You are 17 and start behaving like that."  Saying that she went to kitchen to help mom.

Even though Trisha is only an year older to me, we were never close to each other. Most of our childhood, she saw me as her competition and never let me near her. After Swetha was born, I made sure she wouldn't have to face all that. I promised myself that I will be a good elder sister to her. Even though now Trisha treats me better, we still have many awkward moments due to the lack of intimacy between us.

It's only 2 weeks before I and Trisha move to our respective colleges and I wish we would get admitted to different colleges, I can't think of going to the same class as her. Trisha took a one year break to decide what to do and now she is also going to join along with me.

Mom called us all for breakfast. We sat around the table and started to dwell into our plates. When I looked at mom I knew something was not right. She looked very uncomfortable. Even before I could ask her about it, she cleared her throat to get our attention. She postured herself as if getting ready to say something important.

"Girls I want to say an important thing", the look in her face is evident enough to say she was a little bit worried about something.

"Mom, can't it just wait till evening? I’m going out with my girls today", spoke Trisha. I really wonder if she can ever understand anything about the other people.

"It can't Trisha and no one is going anywhere until I get to finish what I want to say", mom said in a determined voice, enough to shut Trisha.

We all looked at mom waiting for her to continue.

"As you all know that both Trisha and Anu are going for their higher studies within two weeks, we had to make a few changes in plans."

She looked around as if to see we were paying attention or not. May be our silence might have confused her. I can see restlessness in Trisha's face.

"Am I not going to pursue my course?", Trisha said with a annoyed tone.

"No it's not that darling, you both are going to join the courses you want to" , mom said with an assuring smile.

"Then what is it mom?", Trisha said folding her hands in front of her chest.

"Well, we all are moving to your uncle Uday’s house before your college admissions”, she rushed the last part.

"What?", both Trisha and I yelled at same time. Only difference being my tone filled with annoyance and her voice filled with happiness
