Next day I started early from my house as I have to walk to college. It was better than being in the car with them. When I was crossing the college's parking lot, I saw Trisha getting out of a car along with another girl. Even though it is a first sight, one can say that she was full of attitude. Something about the girl didn't feel right but I pushed that feeling and started walking towards my class.

When I was at my locker I noticed Jay and his friends passing by me. Jay, as usual, didn't even acknowledge my existence. Karan gave me a small smile or I thought he gave, I’m not sure about it. Dev smiled at me and I reciprocated.

The first hour was  commerce, when the lecture was about to begin I noticed someone sitting in the empty seat beside me. When I turned to look I found it was Dev. We looked into each other's eyes for a moment. There is something so deep and mysterious about his eyes. 'Come on you stupid, concentrate on the lecture first, not on him', I thought to myself and got back to the lecture.

It was lunch time and I decided against going to cafeteria and instead went to the benches outside the building. It was peaceful under trees and I liked it even though I was being a loner. May be it was because of the fact that I no longer have to take my lunch with the horrible company.

After lunch, it was time for my favourite class, Art. I love the art classes so much, may be the teacher developing an instant like for me could be a cause. Teacher assigned us the tasks to be done for the day and she helped us with them.

Finally, I was done with college for the day. I walked back home and after completing my shower I saw Swetha sitting on my bed.

"What are you doing here, my little devil?", I asked her.

"Looks like someone had a good day", she said with a smile, completely ignoring my question.

"Well, you can call it that way. I guess getting to spend a day away from the most annoying people is always a good day".

I laid on my bed and Swetha moved near to me. She hugged me and said, "You look so beautiful when you smile Anu, I love seeing you like that."

"And why exactly is that?"

"Because your smile reminds me of granny. So pure and contagious".

I rolled my eyes and just laid there thinking of college. Everything was going fine with getting to spend time away from Trisha and Jay. Dev and I became sort of friends but deep down I had this gut feel that something in him looks dangerous.

Today is the day for assigning partners to complete our projects. Firstly, it was Art class and the teacher was calling out the names of partners. I was waiting for my name anticipating who would be my partner.

"Anu and Karan", the teacher read our names and I was still trying to process what I heard. I didn't even know he was in the same class as me. Karan sat beside me with his stuff. He didn't even give a glance at me at least once.

"Hi", I said to break the awkward silence. He looked at me for a few seconds and started doing his work again. ' What's wrong with him? Couldn't he talk? Well, I never saw him talk'. The class got over while I was wondering about him.

The situation with Dev was completely different. He always tries to talk with me and somehow it is freaking me out.

Author’s note:

The weird behaviour of both Kiran and Dev are difficult for Anu to understand. But are her problems going to stop there?
