It had been a week since I decided to open up to Dev. I got really comfortable with him.  Karan started being less ignorant after our talk in the library but the talks were mostly  involved only the project and nothing more. Swetha still did not return from her trip and it was only Dev that I had been talking to daily in the past week. Although, I had been talking to Dev all the week, something about him kept feeling dangerous.

Unknown p.o.v:

It was past midnight and I am standing in the middle of the road near Jay’s house. I don’t know why but I got the sudden urge to see Anu and before I knew it, I was already here standing near her house. As we used to sneak in and out of Jay’s room for late night parties I knew how to get into the house.

I slowly went into the house and to my luck I found her room easily. When I entered inside her room I was mesmerised by the view. There she was sleeping like an angel. In contrast to how stressful she usually seems during the college, she looked so peaceful. I dragged the bean bag near her bed and sat there looking at her beautiful face. Her eyes always seemed filled with so much sadness and I always wanted to hug her tightly and comfort her.

I stayed there staring at her for almost an hour. Soon I was getting drowsy and I decided to leave her place as I don’t want to get caught in the morning. I got out of her house and only one thing was on my mind. ‘I will do anything to make sure she is happy even if  we may get together or not.’

Anu’s p.o.v:

I was eating my breakfast expecting a boring day at school; suddenly dad came to the table with a big smile on his face.

“What’s the matter dad? you look so happy today.” I asked him without looking away from my plate.

He left a soft chuckle and said, “Today your little devil will be coming home. There would be someone who will take care about me.” As soon as those words left his mouth I became ecstatic and started dancing with joy.

“Cool down girl. You are still going to attend your classes today.” My mom spoke coming out of the kitchen.

“But mom Swetha will be here after a---”,  mom cut me off before I could complete my reasoning.

“I won’t allow my child to skip classes. Do you get it girl”, she spoke in her ‘don’t mess with me’ voice.

I know it’s better not to piss her and agreed to go to college. When I was about to leave for college mom came and hugged me from side.

“She will be tired from all the travelling. So she needs to rest Anu. You both can skip your classes tomorrow and do whatever you want.” I hugged her tightly and left for college.

The loud sound of the bell filled the whole college and I left the college as soon as possible to go see my little devil, Swetha.

“Hey Anu. Looks like someone is in a hurry Why are you walking so fast?”, asked Dev keeping up with my pace.

“Swetha is returning from her school trip today. I can’t wait to see her.”

“Okay. Now I get it why were you so happy today.” he paused for a moment before speaking again.

“I want to tell you something Anu. Ever since we started spending time together I started falling for you. I think I’m in love with you Anu.” He stood there studying my face for any reaction.

I stood there silently for a moment thinking how to react to what he just said.

“Look, Dev you are a good friend for me. Please don’t ruin it with this sh*t.”

“Anu, tell me one thing. Don’t you like me?” He said looking straight in the eyes.

“I like you Dev but as a friend. I have never seen our relation or us that way. Please don’t ruin our friendship.”

“Fine Anu. But I have an idea.”

"What?"

"Do you wanna go out on a date with me?"

“Dev, why can’t you understand? I don’t have any feelings for you.” I’m already losing my cool.

“Listen Anu. I know you don’t have any feelings for me. I don’t want to give up on so soon. Let us try to hangout more often, get to know each other a little more. May be then you might change your opinion. If it doesn’t work then we would at least have an idea why we won’t work. Please give it a thought.”

I was shocked by his proposal but couldn’t hurt him denying it. “I don’t want to take any decision right now, Dev. Can we  talk about it later?”

The rest of the journey to my house was silent. He gave me a small smile before I entered my house.

As soon as I entered I heard the squeal of my little devil. She was running down the stairs towards me and she lunged at me. Soon I found myself on the floor and Swetha on top of me hugging me as if her life depended on it.

The whole night passed with her blabber about her trip. I missed her laughter so much.

We decided to attend our classes as she missed her school and wanted to go.
