After quickly finishing breakfast, I had gone back upstairs to change into comfier clothes. I opened my closet in search of an outfit I could wear while exercising that wouldn't reflect badly on my father's reputation.

"To restricting." I mumbled to myself as I pulled another outfit that didn't suit my criteria. I sighed. I'd gone through the last of my outfits. What could I possibly wear?

It came to me in a second after sitting down on my bed. The outfit I wear when going on excursions is perfect for running. I quickly sat up and leaned over to look under my bed. My outfit lay discarded on top of my gadget bag. I grinned to myself before grabbing it and rushing to the bathroom to change.

When I emerged again I was fitted in a black body suit, with a leather vest and black boots to support my ankles when running. I smiled as I pulled a black cap on to keep my hair out of my eyes. I looked great in this outfit, I thought as I grabbed a jacket to conceal the top part of the outfit knowing my father would disapprove of it.

I pulled it on as I left my room and walked swiftly down the hall way, the soft soles of my boots keeping my steps quite. I jogged down the stairs and to the door when my family's bodyguard, better known as the gorilla, stopped me.

"Hey, I'm just going out for a run." I tell him. He raises an eyebrow but doesn't move from my path.

"My father suggested I exercise today, and I'm just doing what he asked." I explain. He still refuses to move.

"You can trail behind me in the automobile." I say sighing. He steps aside and opens the door. I walk past him and down the front steps of our house, the light from the sun momentarily blinding me. I blink and stop at the bottom of the steps and listen as birds chirp from their perch in trees.

Got to start jogging before time runs out, I reminded my self as the gorilla pulls the automobile out of our garage. He drives it around until it is facing the gates. I walk slowly behind him and stop at the gate to pull a switch. With a whirring sound signifying the turning of gears the gates open with a groan.

I smile and follow the car out of the drive way. When the gorilla is clear of the walkway he gives me a nod, and I'm off. I move at a fast pace, but not fast enough to be considered running. I grin as the morning breeze ruffles my hair and leaves a sprinkle of morning dew on my clothes.

I increase my pace, ignoring the objections of the gorilla. Adrenaline rushes through me as I reach a clearing, leaving the gorilla far behind me. I let out a whoop of joy. And collapse against a tree that sits on the edge of the clearing. I chuckle to myself and enjoy the moment of silence when the ground suddenly starts to shake.

"Woah!" I bolt up and look around for the gorilla who has caught up to me. I turn to run to him when I spot an old man standing under an unstable arch way. I look between the gorilla and the man, before turning around and tearing toward the archway.

I rip off my coat to decrease resistance and run faster than I had ever before. The archway started to crumble and the old man looks up in realization. I reach the edge of the path the archway stands over and dive, tackling the man out of the way, the arch way crumbling in chunks to the ground behind us.

"Thank you, young man. The city needs more heroes like you." The old man says as I help him stand. I smile and shrug.

"No problem. Now we just have to get out of here." When I had tackled him,I had pushed us both into the building behind the archway. Now the entrance was blocked off by the debris. I look around for a way out.

"Here, take these." The old man says handing me a pair of goggles. "They should help you find a way out."

"Thanks." I said pulling them over my head. As soon as the green tinted rims were over my eyes the light contrast in the room changed. The dark forgotten corners in the room, were suddenly describable and whole. I turned in a circle marvelling at the change the goggles had brought to the room.

"Hey, where did you get these?" I asked turning back to the old man, only to find he was no longer there. I looked around for a possible explanation as to where he could have gone, though to no avail and my surprise I could find none.

A sudden noise from the entrance called me back to the task at hand, as rocks were pushed aside and light filtered through the cracks.

"Hey is anyone in here?" Someone called. I coughed at the dusk that was stored up by the rocks movement.

"Yah." I shouted back. There was a bit more shuffling before they spoke again.

"It might take a bit to clear these rocks. Just stay where you are!" I sighed and kicked at the ground with my foot. My foot bounced off of it with a resounding clang. I glanced down at my feet curiously.

"Is everything alright in there?" Someone asked from behind the crumbled arch. I bent down and brushed away the dust as a gave an answer.

"Yah... just bumped into something in the dark." I said, while wondering why I hadn't told the truth. Probably because my father would confiscate the glasses, I reminded myself as I felt the floor for a possible compartment.

It took me a second for my fingers to find a latch. I smiled to myself as a squeezed and the floor popped open. A cloud of dust I assumed was compressed inside the compartment exploded at the sudden release of pressure. I coughed a bit as the dust settled, before peaking inside.

The objects inside were bathed in the green tint that came with seeing in the dark. A reached inside the hollow and pulled out a small decorated box and a leather bound book.

I turned each object over in my hand for a second, eyeing every detail. The book was older, at least by about a century. It had the initials F.G.V. F,G,V. Why did those initials sound so familiar?

With my mind still uncertain about the book, I slid it into a pocket on the inside of my jacket, hoping that I could read it later. I then focused on the second item I had discovered.

The box was a fashioned from a dark wood, from a tree that has never been found in Pari. Carved into the lid was a design that I didn't recognize from any history book, yet it seemed like it came from a daunting memory in the back of my head. Curious as to what it could hold, I flipped open the lid and found...
