M.P.V.
After going through a couple more pages, a bit more thoroughly this time, I closed the book. Standing and cringing at the pins and needles that traveled up and down my legs, I turned to Tikki.
"I'm going to go grab lunch." I commented, as I stretched and worked out the kinks from sitting for so long.
"Would you like anything?" I offered. "I'm sure it's about time for you to recharge."
"Something to eat would be nice." Tikki voiced as her small stomach growled. "If you could bring me back something sweet I would appreciate it."
"Of course Tikki!" I chimed as I walked across my room to the trapdoor. "I'll bring back a cookie then."
Descending the stairs I sniffed the air and could feel my hunger growing at the scent of my mom's cooking. I quickly scrambled to the table as she dished out a small slab of unrecognizable meat. I poked at it, disappointed.
"Don't play with your food Marinette." My mom warned. "We are lucky to still have any meat left to eat."
"Sorry mom." I apologized. "I just miss your steaks."
"I miss them too." She said giving a faint smile. "Unfortunately though that only lasted so long. Until the next batch of animals is able to reproduce, we are stuck with this."
I looked away from her, and down at my food, before cautiously cutting off a piece and sticking it into my mouth. It was definitely not as good as steak, I thought as I started chewing, but it was better than nothing.
After finishing the rest of my lunch I grabbed a pair of slippers to wear when I brought my dad his food. My mom handed me the plate after I had stood and made me promise to go slowly.
"I promise I won't spill." I replied as I opened the door. "I will be very careful."
"And watch where you step!" My mom called after me. "The stairs might be a little uneven after yesterday!"
"I'll be fine!" I yelled back before shaking my head and climbing down the stairs.
When I reached the bottom my father was waiting, arms out incase I tripped. Handing his food to him I sighed and rolled my eyes as he still kept an arm in front of his food to guard it from me.
"I'm not going to wreck lunch dad." I said, following him into the bakery.
"I know." He replied as he set it down on the counter. "I just don't want to take any risks."
"If you say so." I remark before I take a freshly baked cookie off a tray. I put it into a bag when the bell rang. I looked up and smiled when I saw Rose.
"Hey, Rose!" I said, as she walked up to the counter.
"Hi Marinette!" She replied. "I'm glad to see your okay after yesterday. You really had everyone worried."
"I'm sorry you were worried." I apologized. "I'm just glad Lila didn't do or say anything else."
"Are you sure Lila pushed you?" Rose inquired, moving a but closer. "I know you haven't exactly trusted her from the moment she joined the school."
"And I have had reason too." I retorted, crossing my arms. "She's a lying pickpocketing, who wraps people around her finger wherever she goes."
"She pickpockets?" Rose questioned, eyes going wide. I nodded.
"She was trying to steal your Rose pin the other day." I answered.
"I don't know if what your saying is really true," Rose voiced. "I do know that my pin was secured to the inside of a zipped pocket. There is no way it could have fallen out."
