It was unusually cold that night and light snow began to cover the pavement. Both Mia and Gideon were snuggled on the couch under a blanket, browsing through the channels on the TV. Mia was already used to the fact that Gideon was always cold and seemed to never warm up to her body temperature, though she enjoyed it most of the times. Especially in the summer time.

That was when they met. And their relationship was blooming into something beautiful. According to Mia, it was. Gideon would've agreed with what she thought if it wasn't for something that he finally has decided to confess to Mia. It wasn't an everyday conversation, that is. And he didn't share it with people unless it was really necessary. But Mia was something else. Well, in his book. He knew that the moment he cast his gaze upon her. And he couldn't move on without her knowing.

"Gideon, can you change the channel?" it took him a moment to react, but it was enough for her to look at him and notice that he wasn't his usual self. "Are you alright?" She turned her body so she was facing him, a concerned look adorning her face.

"Yes, I am. But there is something I need to talk to you about." That spiked her attention, but he wasn't sure how to get it out. This could either go okay, or disastrously. He just needed her to hear him out.

"Well, what is it?" she playfully poked his side before looking at him seriously, "It's not that conversation when you tell me that you need to move or that you are a married man with kids?" he knew she wasn't serious. She always found a seemingly inappropriate moment to joke.

"No, Mia, but this is serious. I just want you to hear me out. That's the only thing I ask of you." She nodded silently, waiting for him to continue. And he did, after a loud gulp. "I don't know how to better tell you this, so I guess..." in a split second he was up from the couch and on the other side of the room, his back turned away from her, "I'll just show you."

Mia yelped in shock when she felt the air around her shift quickly. She was hoping it was some kind of trick when she spotted her boyfriend in the furthest corner. And she sure as hell hoped that what was happening to his face was some kind of stupid joke. Though she knew he wasn't the joker between the two of them.

"Gideon?..." she trailed off as he made a step to approach her. The involuntary shift of her back farther into the couch stopped him from advancing more.

"Mia, I am sorry I am telling you this only now. I knew I wasn't supposed to wait so long, but I couldn't risk losing you."

"What the hell are you trying to tell me? You only apologized. What is wrong with your face?" she couldn't keep her voice from rising into a strained yell. She was terrified.

"Mia, I know you wish this was your imagination, but it's real." He hissed when he smelled blood. He looked at where Mia licked the tear in her lip from where she bit too hard, exposing his elongated fangs. The look on her face showed him everything he needed to know.

"What the he... Gideon?" tears sprang to her eyes as her mind scrambled to make sense out of this. "You... you! I was... Vampire?!" at last, the word formed on her tongue. And it left a bad aftertaste. Gideon was on her instantly, trying to stop her from yelling. He needn't the neighbours hearing all of this. But he still couldn't prevent the scream that escaped her lips as he appeared above her.

"Get away from me!" she scrambled up on her feet, pushing herself up and off the sofa, and back to the wall. The fear in her voice was evident, but so was the anger. He didn't know why, but it surprised him. He could never expect her to be angry.

"Mia, love..."

"Stop! Don't you 'love' me! Stay away from me!" he could hear her heart beating so fast it seemed like it could burst out of her rib cage. And he did hear the venom dripping from her words. That was what he hoped didn't happen. He could deal with fear, shock, tears, but anger... It was hard to get her angry with someone. But it was harder to get back on her good side. "Get out! I never want to see you again!" she stared at him with wide eyes for a moment before finally realizing that she was at his place. She made a quick job of collecting her things and walking towards the door. Giving a one last glare at the creature standing in the middle of the room, she spoke the last thing on her mind then "If I ever see you again – I don't know how – but I'll make you regret that you ever approached, talked, or touched me. I can't believe I... " she shook her head quickly, as if trying to get rid of other thoughts, "Stay away from me and my family." With that she closed the door from the other side of his house, begging her legs to take her as far as quickly as possible.

If his heart could've, it would shatter in thousands of pieces as he stood there, his eyes fixed on the door where she just was. It didn't go near as what he had expected and thought of a million of times. This was the worst case scenario in his head. He couldn't be with her, though that was exactly what his heart, body and soul longed for.

A/N: Well, welcome my new baby. It's been a long process, but finally I got to the point where I can start posting this. It's a bit different than what I already have, but nonetheless I enjoyed writing it just as much. Hope you like the prologue and if you did and are waiting for the first chapter, please vote and comment, cause I appreciate it.

P.S. I don't know how often I'll be posting the chapters yet, but I'll sure try for it to be more often.

Be great, be good, be kind. Chloe <3
