A/N: Here we go, people, another chapter for you! I hope that your self-isolation time becomes a little more interesting. And by the way, how is everyone entertaining themselves? Personally I got engrossed in so many books, and I really read a lot now and have discovered a lot of amazing books here on Wattpad! But the problem is that I should dedicate more time on writing, but I can't seem to do that. Though, fear not, I will try to keep consistent with the updates for this story. Please enjoy, and if you did, leave a comment and vote - I appreciate all of you.
Be great, be good, be kind. Chloe <3
"No, no, no. Stay with me." Worry covered his face as the petite girl swayed from side to side, her hands reaching out as if trying to grab something to hold on to. She lost a lot of blood and he had to do something, fast.
He lifted her in his arms and quickly placed her on the bed, and then he moved fast around the apartment, trying to find something to dress the wound with. He listened to the ragged breaths Mia took as his hands worked fast at an attempt to dress the gashed skin. He wasn't sure if he wanted to take her to a hospital or if he wanted to just help her himself. He watched her, her chest rising and falling with every inhale and exhale and in a spurt of the moment he nicked at the skin on his wrist and put it against her lips. His blood fell in droplets on her lips and on instinct she licked the wetness away. Her nose scrunched as she tasted what it was, but Gideon wanted her to have a little bit more.
Mia's features relaxed by the time Gideon took away his hand, the pain evidently not bothering her so much as before. He brushed the hair away from her face, continuing to run his fingers through her locks, soothing her as she lay on the bed. With his other hand he lifted the gauze from the wound, watching as it started to close and sighed in relief – she'll be okay. It took a few minutes before Mia's eyes started to flutter open. The familiar scent of Gideon engulfed her senses and she hummed a little, her hand searching blindly for the source.
"I'm here." He clasped her tiny hand in his, his thumb drawing circles on her smooth skin.
"Gideon?" she opened her eyes and looked confused at the figure sitting at her side. "What happened?" it took a moment for her to remember everything. "Oh god..." her hand instinctively reached for her neck, feeling it carefully.
"It's almost gone. You'll be okay." Gideon reassured her.
"How is that possible...oh."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know what else to do. You lost a lot of blood."
"It's okay." She pushed herself up against the headboard slowly, and looked at the man in front of her. "Thank you."
"Mia..." he didn't know what to say. He felt responsible for what happened and he was so scared when he saw all the blood on her, but he was glad that she called him. "Do you remember who did this?" he asked her instead.
"I didn't see his face. He was on the balcony and I thought it was you so I went outside, and he grabbed me." She shuddered at the memory and terror filled her again. "But he did make it clear that you two know each other. He was adamant that you knew about this and what he did. Do you know who he is?"
Gideon stiffened as he realised that it was indeed his fault that Mia was the victim of the vampire, but he couldn't remember anyone who would hold a grudge on him. Though he was sure that whoever it was he had to look into his past and figure out whose path he crossed.
"I can't think of anyone right now. He didn't happen to mention his name?"
"No."
They sat in silence for a few minutes, both at a loss of words. It felt almost awkward. And though Mia was thankful that Gideon came and, dare she say, saved her, she didn't know what to say to him. She felt around her neck once again and it occurred to her that she must've bled everywhere. She stood up from the bed and scanned the floor but it was all clean. Her eyebrows knit together in confusion. She went to the bathroom and everything there was clean as well.
