A/N: hey guys, here is another chapter for you, and I am as consistent as ever, with just a little less than 2000 words. I recently revisited one of my other stories and was really surprised to discover how long the chapters were there - at about 4 to 5 thousands words, which is about 9 pages in Word.  Though, that doesn't mean that I will change the length in here too, as I am pretty okay with how they are now. But enough about that. Back to the chapter. I can say that I'm on a roll. It comes so quick to me now, thankfully, as I'm used to having a writer's block too often and I'm very happy that I can write so fast now. So please, enjoy this chapter, vote and comment so I know what you think.

Be great, be good, be kind. Chloe <3

Mia woke up to someone hustling around her room and she slowly opened her eyes to see what the commotion was about. Gideon was walking around, opening and closing the drawers and taking out the clothes from within and into a duffel bag.

"Hey, what's happening?" her voice was groggy and it hurt to swallow from how dry her mouth was. Gideon stopped what he was doing and turned to look at now awake Mia. He covered the floor in three long strides and sat next to her, taking a hand into his to hold soothingly.

"We have to go away."

"We... as in you and..."

"All three of us, Mia. We have to leave the town and we need to do it quickly." She sat up quickly in the bed, a frown etching on her face.

"Gideon, I can't. I have to work. I already missed a whole week." He cupped her face gently, effectively making her stop talking. He looked at her with sorrowful eyes, and though he knew that she was very fond of her job, she had no choice. It was this, or most probably – death.

"Mia... Do you trust me?" It was too soon to ask her to do so, but he was hoping that he gave her enough reason to know that he was going to do anything to keep her safe.

"I do; I trust you Gideon," the words left her without a second thought. She did trust him, despite the fact that he was a vampire and that she still feared that part of him.

"We need to leave as soon as possible, but I will tell you everything when we are on the road, okay? I need you to get ready now. Be quick, but don't worry about anything. I'll take care of your things and I'll be waiting downstairs with Chris."

"Okay."

She took a quick shower, but the hot water didn't relieve the panic that was steadily engulfing her. Was that attack the reason they had to leave? Was Gideon in danger? Or was it her that was in danger? She hated the idea of any of them getting hurt or worse than that – killed. If leaving meant that they could avoid anything like that happening again, she would let Gideon take her away even if she lost her job because of that.

Once done with the shower, she chose a pair of thick sweatpants and a matching sweatshirt to dress into. She avoided looking at her reflection in the mirror as she already was petrified of the state of her face. She looked terrible and she felt almost the same. The sleep helped in regaining some of her strength, but she was still weak, and not only because of the injuries, but due to the loss of weight too.

Gideon was pacing the living room when Mia finally appeared, clad in her winter coat and scarf in hand. He stopped to look at her and smiled softly.

"We're all set to go. Are you ready?" He approached her and offered her his hand, which she surprisingly took. He smiled a little, the feeling of her skin against his, a touch so small, was enough to make his gloomy mood to dissipate.
