Days were passing by and Gideon was nowhere near to finding out who was the vampire that kept him up and about, worrying about every move Mia made. She kept on alternating the days, staying either at her flat or with Gideon at his house, but it was very tiring to continue so. She knew it was an arrangement that Gideon made only so she could be kept safe, but she couldn't wait for the day it all became normal again.

"Mia, are you still there?" Gideon called out, his phone pressed between his cheek and shoulder as he paced the room.

"Yes. I was just distracted. What were you saying?"

"I was asking if you want me to come pick you up now or later."

"Actually, I was thinking of staying home tonight. I need to be at work tomorrow, for a meeting." There was no meeting though. She just wanted to go out and for once not worry about the vampire that was supposedly still trying to hurt her. And to go out meant that she had to lie to Gideon.

"Tomorrow is Saturday."

"I know."

"I can always drive you."

"Gideon, it's fine. You said yourself he wouldn't be able to get inside and I'll lock everything before going to bed. You need to give yourself a break."

"Mia, please..."

"I'll be fine. I promise." Gideon frowned as he sat on the edge of the armchair – it wasn't something she could ensure him of, but he had to give in and let her have a night by herself. He was guarding her 24/7 and she never had the chance to be alone anymore.

"Ok. But I am a call away if anything happens."

"I know, Gideon." She smiled softly at his concern. They grew closer over the past events and Mia couldn't deny that she was warming up to him once again, despite the fact that he was actually a vampire. He was still the Gideon she knew.

She locked herself in her fortress of solitude, checking everything twice, before grabbing a towel and heading for the shower. The hot water cascading onto her skin felt delightful and she felt her muscles relax with every passing minute. She hated this situation, but she also hated that that stopped her from doing anything social. So she actually planned to go out with her friend and just have a good time somewhere. Surely she would be safe with someone else with her.

Lottie was waiting for her in the line that formed at the entrance of the club. There were just a few people in front of them and Mia sighed in relief she got there just in time. Her friend greeted her with a tight hug and a bright smile adorned her face.

"I can't believe you actually called me and asked to go out," Lottie said excitedly. "Usually it's me who comes up with this." Mia caught the hidden question in her statement, but she was already prepared with an answer for that.

"I had a stressful week at work. I could use some alcohol in my veins and dance it all out."

By the time they were inside, their fingers were frozen to the point it was painful to move them and for once they were grateful of the stuffy air inside. After leaving their coats at the front, they made their way straight to the bar and ordered some drinks. The poisonous liquid disappeared in an instant and after another shot, both of them headed for the dancefloor to let loose.

The outfits they chose were sure to attract male attention and neither of them seemed to mind the proximity of bodies dancing next to them. And neither did they mind when men circled their waist with their hands and pulled them closer to dance. Mia switched off her mind for the night and the alcohol did a great job at keeping it that way for longer. She welcomed the large hands that gripped her hips and moved her against his hips, instigating a pleasant sensation between her legs. It was a long time since she had some fun and tonight seemed like the night when she would get some action.
