Be great, be good, be kind. Chloe <3
Mia woke up well rested and ready to tackle the world with a body full of energy. It was rare that she was like this in the mornings, but she liked it when it happened. She got ready for work and went to the usual coffee shop before taking the short road to the glass building that her office was in. The lift was empty when she got in and nobody followed her either. Usually there are a lot of people that get in with her at this early hour. At the third floor the lift stopped, and she welcomed the sole person that joined her on the ride. She thought if she knew the man from somewhere and though it seemed like she recognized him she couldn't remember where from. Nor did she remember his name.
She was taking a small sip from the little coffee that she had in the cup when they suddenly stopped moving up. She knew that there was no need to panic, but in the back of her mind something didn't seem right. And then the man was on her, his hand around her mouth and his eyes fixed on hers. She could hear him saying something, but it was muffled by the fear ringing in her ears. Nonetheless, she nodded slowly as he let go of her, her whole being in a daze-like state. She registered his face changing into something horrifying, but there was no reaction from her body whatsoever. She even tilted her head and gathered her hair to the side as he approached her and then he sank his sharp elongated teeth into the back of her neck, just along the neckline of her hair. She felt the pain of the pinch, but she made no attempt of moving away or calling for help. It felt like minutes before he stepped away, and then he bit his wrist and pulled her lips to the bloody arm. She had just enough time to take a sip and lick her lips and then he stepped away, said something else as he stared at her intensely and pressed the button for the next floor and disappeared as soon as the doors opened.
Mia blinked a couple of times, just in time to see the elevator doors closing. She frowned, confused as to why the lift stopped if there was nobody else to get out and nobody got in. Glancing around quickly, she didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and shrugged. The lift took her to her floor and she got out.
Work dragged on and on and Mia was ecstatic when the clock showed 6 in the evening and she got ready to leave. Saying goodbye to some of her friends, she pressed the button for the elevator and got in. There were some people inside, but they got out a few floors down and another man got it. He seemed vaguely familiar, but nothing came to mind as to who he was. She was looking in her purse, checking if she had all her things with her, when the lift stopped abruptly. She looked up in surprise, only to find the man hovering over her and looking intently into her eyes.
"Wha..."
She was cut off before she could say anything more, and words were said to her by that man but she couldn't understand anything due to the roaring of her own panic in her ears. Though, she still nodded to whatever was said and let the man get to her neck. She felt his teeth grazing her skin but she didn't make any sound of protest. He bit her, and then sucked on her wound for what seemed like a long time. And then he made her have some of his own blood, before disappearing on the next floor with some final words.
"You will not remember me, or whatever happened in this elevator."
Gideon waited tensely for Mia to appear outside, spotting her just a few minutes later. She looked like she always did, with her hair flowing in the chilly winter wind as she walked down the sidewalk. But as soon as she arrived home and took her coat off, he could smell the blood on her again. And that happened over and over the following days. He couldn't understand why it appeared as if she was bleeding but she never had any cuts or wounds visible on her. It was by the end of the week that he finally decided to investigate further if she smelled of blood again that day. He had to face her, and though he didn't want to have the need to do so, he was getting worried.
