When I was 6, my parents put me and Cheyenne in an all girls school, while Shane went to and and all boys one. I stayed at Winchester County Girls school for all my school years. But this part takes place in 8th grade.
I didn't have many friends growing up, but when I got to 8th grade, I met this girl named Ashlynn. We were best friends, because she was new to WCGS. I invited her over for sleepovers and developed a huge crush on her. That's when I knew, I was different.
Before we went to church one day, my mom asked if I wanted to invite Ash. I invited her, then walked to her house to get her. After church she came back to my house for a sleepover. She fell asleep on my bed with me, so I thought she liked me by doing that. The next day at school, I was going to tell her about my crush. At school, I saw her at her locker.
“Hey Em, what's up?" I grabbed her wrist and took her into the bathroom.
“Um.. Ash, I don't know how to tell you this..."
“Oh no, are you moving?!?" she cut me off.
“No.. Um..." I didn't know how to tell her. “I like you" I blurted out. Oh no.. Then I ran out of the bathroom.
“Emma! I didn't know you were a lesbian!!"she yelled to me at lunch.
“I-I'm not.. I just don't know." I cried. I just lost my best friend and now it's going to get around school that I like girls.
When I got home my mom called me to the dining room. “Honey, I got a call from Mrs.Wilson saying that you told Ashlynn that you liked her." I tried speaking but she went on. “No daughter of mine will be a homosexual, you are a catholic, you like boys. Got it? Good. Why can't you be like Shane and Cheyenne, they are the perfect children." And she walked off, leaving me crying. I got up and ran to my room. Why can't my family be like the Morris'. There son goes to Shane's school and he came out as gay last summer, his parents were ok with it. But when I told my friend I liked her, she left.
During the summer before 9th grade, I met our new neighbors. The Hudson's. They had five kids. The daughter was my age her name was Claire. She had four little brothers. Michael, Benjamin, Maurice and her cute baby brother Samuel. She was pretty and she invited me to her house.
“Hi Emma. I have to tell you something. You might walk out and leave me, but I feel like you should know. I'm an open lesbian. My parents are ok with it, but I know the girls at school won't, so just please keep it a secret."
*Present*
Ok, hold up. You guys might think this is the end. Wow Emma found real love. Back to my story. Blah Blah Blah. Well no.
*Flashback*
“Of course I'll keep it a secret, if you can keep mine." We sat on her bed and I told her about how I like girls, and how I grew up in a homophobic family and how a couple of day ago my best friend left me when i told her. When I finished she leaned over and hugged me.
“That's a really sad story, and I'll keep your secret, but
call your brother." I don't know how she knew, but I called Shane. He came over and asked him a favor.
“Hi Shane, I'm Claire, I saw you this morning. I have one favor. " In the past week, me and Shane have been getting a lot closer because Shy got more popular at school. “Ok, Shane, Your sister is a homosexual." Oh god here it comes.
“Its kind of obvious, sis. "
Then Claire continued “Well, we really want to date, but I need you to tell your mom that me and you are dating, so I can see your sister without your parents getting suspicious. So, Em, you walk home. Then your brother and I will walk in and I will come to your room. Got it?" I nodded. “Oh. Will you be my girlfriend, Emma?" I nodded again the went home for the plan.
