San's following days in the University introduced him to Zen's slowly-losing temper. He kept on nagging Zen from the moment that he's still tired from walking in the morning, with sweats dwindling through his hairs and neck, that made Zen threw his bag at him every time he enters the door; until the afternoon that even Zen's driver got scared of San as he suddenly appeared out of nowhere. There was even one time that the car that they're driving bumped on the garbage bags as it swerved off its way from San. As soon as Zen climbed out of the car, the then-scared San already ran for his life from Zen's fangs. By the following morning, San wore a grim reaper's mask to protect his face from Zen's fists, but Zen just resigned of giving San a shot.
The truth is every time San made a funny face, cracks a joke, intentionally or unintentionally makes something funny, Zen smiles right after everyone's eyes were not on him. He couldn't help it. It's not that he enjoyed San's pestering, nor does he wanted to be harassed by everyone's stares, expecting for him to surrender a smile; but he just wanted to play with San-he wants San to try very hard.
There was even this one time when he threw out a mouthful of rice at San's face when San unexpectedly farted and gave a strong smell and audible sound like that of a balloon releasing its gas inside. He actually involuntarily laughed, but the scene showed a disgusted outcome, which he clung to, and pushed San away from the group. Later that day, Zen's laugh was heard through the boy's rest room echoing endlessly.
Every idle times, Gii would ask San in Thai about anything. Slowly, San's knowledge in Thai has raised tenfold. In the span of two weeks, he can already understand almost everything that is said slowly.
By weekend, San, P'Nat, Riang, and aunty Naifang would go to the vegetable plantation to harvest vegetables for the restaurant/bar, to where San's lunches are from as well.
Two weeks has passed yet San still didn't catch any of Zen's smiles. He was already relenting on his enrolment form when one time at lunch break, San still has one last final joke to try for the day, but, to his dismay, Zen wasn't inside the classroom.
"He's at the canteen near Fai's classroom" Gii said just when San's about to ask her.
He quickly weaved through the thick crowd of students as they paved their ways back to their respected classrooms. He immediately got in the elevator and proceeded to the canteen.
He's been here before. It is the canteen where he pushed a slice of carrot to Zen's mouth. He couldn't help but break a smile.
The canteen was still full of students having their bought lunches, but some were already retreating towards the exit.
San searched for Zen from table to table. He asked almost every student in each table if they saw a monster in Zen's description, which everyone considered as a joke.
"If you are referring to Zin, he's in the Greenhouse with Fai. I believe you know Fai?" A guy in an overly ironed black shirt poked him on the shoulder.
The guy is cool. Cool like cool. Cool like sooooo cool. Cool like very cool. Cool like super super coooool!
His hair is highlighted with lines of red hairs, though it was apparent that those hairs are dyed and not natural. He wore a charcoal black eyeliner under his two squinted eyes that made them bigger as usual(that was probably the reason why he wore those eyeliners). His height? Just visualize San's hairs brushing against the guy's chin. He's as tall as Zen, San thought. The guy's skin was so pale that it became a background of his defined rockstar look.
Crystalline eyes reflected San's face from the guy's artificial lens.
"Hey! You okay?" The cool guy shook San from his stunned face.
