*A/N: This is the last part. I am sad to say that the journey of Ariella has ended. Comment if you want to sequel. Who know what will happen then? Comment if you want to know... And thanks for reading!*

I land on my back. A groan escapes my lips and I roll over. I see another figure laying not far away. I stand up and Jace does too. "Where are we?" He wonders, looking to me. "This is the prison where I've been trapped for the last two nights." I shiver and move closer to him. "What's wrong?" A look of concern on his eyes. This time the emotion I can tell what's behind them. It's fear. "Any minute now, people will stop dead and die in front of me." I whisper.

The voice of glass shards speaks. I cover my ears and sink to the ground. "You think you can defeat me?" Jace hears it too, I can tell. "You think I'll get out of your mind? There's too much fear here. You and your boyfriend cannot possibly think of defeating me. Not when I control your mind now."

"First off, Jace is not my boyfriend. Second, yes, I think I can defeat you. I know I can. I control my mind. Not you." I stand up, a determined look on my face. "I give you one last chance. Surrender and give up to me and nobody gets hurt. Or try and fight, and destroy yourself." I look over at him, and he gives me and encouraging smile. "I've said it for weeks, I can say it once more. I will never join you. I love my friends and family too much." A sound similar to a snarl echoes. "Very well, since you do not surrender, die."

A cry sounds behind me. I spin and find Jace gone. Then I see a figure ahead of me. It's Jace. I run over and yell his name. I wrap my arms around him and then, I feel something sticky under my hands. His blood. He falls to his knees. Then a voice, identical to the boy's dying at my feet sounds from behind me. "It's not real! I'm right here."

I back up and see the real Jace, not far off. I pull out my seraph blade and shout "Cassidy." I run and stand beside him. "I'm the real Jace, I won't die." He says. The voice speaks again. "You think so? I am a Greater Demon. I am Sonomus." She exclaims. I smile. "Then come and fight. Stop hiding in the shadows, you coward." I shout. A whoosh sounds and a woman appears, about as tall as me. "Ok. You're asking for death."

A piercing sound jams into my ears, I drop to the ground and scream. "Stop it!" Jace shouts. "This isn't your fight, young Shadowhunter. Give up now." Her voice becomes smooth as silk. "Never! You made my fight when you hurt her!" The sweetness out of her voice, she hardens. "Very well. Fell the wrath of Sonomus!" She raises her hand. I knew what was going to happen. "Jace!" I scream, trying to warn him. He hears it too late. The blackness sends him flying. He crashes into an invisible wall and lays there, not moving. I cry out his name but he doesn't answer.

"He can't hear you." She says. I raise to my feet. "Fight me. I dare you. I know you've seen his fighting. I know you've seen me beat him. If you're so certain you'll beat me, than do it. Because nobody harms him, or my friends." I snarl. Her lip curls in contempt. She pulls out a black sword. I raise my seraph blade and a dagger.

I charge at her, anger and hatred flashing in my eyes. I hit her with a volley of blow after blow. This is different than the sparring I did with the others. This is somehow more draining, as though she's taking it from my core. I get distracted and she flicks her blade and it drags across my shoulder, another hit and it goes along the length of my cheek. I stagger back, clutching my cheek. She knocks me down, scattering my weapons.

She holds her sword up to my throat. "Any last words, weakling?" She sneers. I look up and meet her black eyes. "The mind is only as strong as you are. Now, get out of me." I growl. Something silver flashes in the corner of her vision. She tries to duck, but it's too late. The blade protrudes from her chest. She shrieks with the sound of nothing I can describe. She slowly crumbles to the ground, turning into something white and small. Salt.

I grab the blade and go gather my other weapons. I use all the strength I can to drag one foot in front of the other, over to Jace's body. I shake his shoulders. He moans and looks into my eyes. Gold looking into blue-grey. "You did it. You defeated her." I smile a weary smile and say, "Yes. Now get me out of here. I'm done with this nightmare." The world comes back into focus. Isabelle, Alec, and Hodge lean over me. "Are you ok?" Isabelle questioned. I nod, my head aching. Jace sits next to me. "She's gone. She turned into salt." I say. The two sigh of relief. Hodge, on the other hand, looks furious. "Now that the demon's gone, mind explaining some things?" He challenged. I recount the whole story from the graveyard.

By the time I finish, Hodge is glowering at the other three as well as me. "You knew about this?" He demanded. "Not until Jace told us Saturday. But we knew, yes." They bowed their heads in shame. "Well, you seem like a good Shadowhunter. You may continue to stay here, and you can still go to your school, but you have to work hard if you are to stay."

"Yes sir. I promise." I was enveloped into a group hug with the four of us. By habit, I check my watch. 6:45. "I have to get ready for school." I state. They stare at me in incredulity. "What?"

"You heard Hodge. Now let me go. You're choking me." They let go and I go back to my room and get dressed.

In the kitchen, Isabelle, Alec and Jace are sitting around, whispering. "I know you guys are talking about me." I state. They jump slightly. I grab a protein shake, shake it and chug it down. "You guys want to walk to school with me?" I ask, smiling a real smile. They nod. "Hodge says we have to be back by 8:30." Alec points out. "Well then, we should go." I state. I shoulder my bag and walk out the Institute, knowing where I belong and what I am to do in this world. I look over at Jace and I see the hidden emotion, though I know what it is now.

Affection.
