5 hours and 44 minutes left

"I think going to the hospital is a stupid idea, there's going to be too many people there anyway. The zombies are probably going to the hospital right now!" I shake my head in shame. I told Alex and his friend about going the evacuations at the hospital. Alex was more than willing to go, but Jacob on the other hand; he wanted to go anywhere near the hospital.

"At least there we could get supplies!"

"The hospital has probably already been looted! Staying inside would be safer. Who knows what kind of zombies are out there right now!" Alex walked up to Jacob.

"You may not want to go, but me and my dad want to go!" Jacob takes a few steps back.

"Alright then, your family can go while I the sane person, find another way out of the city." Alex looked find of shocked at first. He quickly got over it.

"Fine. Just go already." Jacob grabbed his machete and walked to the front door. Before he could walk out the door Alex called out to him. "Jacob!" He turned around and looked Alex in the eye. "Be careful." He gave a nod and walked out the door. Alex looked over at me. I could see a tear form in his eye. "When are we going to the hospital?"

"In a few minutes. Get ready." He swiftly ran upstairs. I walk to my Sophie. She looked at me with a blank look. "Sophie? Can you get up?" Her lips formed a small smile.

"Don't baby me. I can stand." She slowly got up and walked to the kitchen. I watched her walk into the kitchen before heading to our room. I walk over to the closet and open it. I reach for the top part of the shelf. It took me a few seconds of my hands wandering aimlessly before I felt a cold piece of metal around my hands. I slowly pull it off the shelf and see the familiar shape of my old hunting rifle. As I look down at the gun a wave of memories overwhelm me. I remembered how my dad would take me out to hunt. Hopefully he's okay, I have no doubt he is going to survive this. He was always crazy about guns and having the skills to survive in nature. He always said that it was important to know those types of things; I always thought he was just being weird.

I look down at the gun. I should've cleaned it more often, hopefully it still works. I reach for the top shelf again, it took me a while to find the boxes of ammo. I sit on my bed and open the camber. The gun had no ammo. I sigh as I start opening the boxes of ammo. I quickly grab the ammo from the boxes and quickly start reloading it. My hands moved on their own as I looked around the room. I felt a tear form in my eyes as I realized that I will probably never see this place again. When I was done reloading, I placed the boxes in my pants and made my way down stairs.

Alex was waiting on the couch, he had his old worn out backpack laying next to him. His legs were shaking up and down quickly. My wife had a bag ready, peeking out of the bag was food and bottles of water. I look around for my bat and see leaning near the door. I grab it and hand it over to Sophie. She grabbed it and whispered ,"Thank you." I smiled at before deciding to walk over to Alex. Alex was on his phone, I wasn't sure what he was doing but I just hoped he was doing something he enjoyed doing. It might be his last time. I tapped his shoulder.

"You ready?" He just nodded and stood up. Sophie walked up behind me.

"Are we going yet?" I responded with a simple, "yep." I grab the bag I got from the guy who died earlier and hesitantly walk to the front door. take one last look around the place before walking to the front door. I take a deep breath and take a step outside. The sun wasn't out, it was just the street lights providing light now. Alex walked in front of me with a pipe in one hand. Alex turned around and looked at me before turning back around and walking out onto the street. Me and Sophie followed behind him. As we walked through the neighborhood I was constantly looking around and taking a look over my shoulder in case anything tried to sneak up on us. We somehow made it out of the neighborhood without running into a single zombie. Actually now that I thought about it we haven't ran into anyone either.
