Click! Click! Who kept clicking their pen? It's getting annoying.I stare blankly at the test in front of me. Click! Click! . I suck in air through my nose then slowly exhale through my mouth. In the corner of my eye I see a girl put her head on her desk. The color suddenly drained from her face. She closed her eyes and tilted her head in my direction. Her chest quickly raised up and then quickly went back down. Behind me someone coughs. Click! Click!
I close my eyes. Looking back down at my test I scrunch my eyebrows. How was I supposed to know where all the elements of the Periodic Table were; how is this going to help me? Did they even go over it this? I doubt it. I look back over to the girl next to me. She still had her eyes closed. I stare at her for a little bit before I notice her veins were becoming more and more visible. Her body suddenly starts flailing around, the teacher, Ms. Bop, rushes over to her side. Foam starts to form in her mouth. I stare in shock as her body flailed on her desk. The teacher puts her hand on the girls back. Her body suddenly stops. Ms. Bop shakes the girl. The girl's hand twitches a little. The teacher breaths a sigh of relief. Shouldn't we be getting this girl a doctor? Ms.Bop reaches into her pocket and pulls out her phone, before the teacher could do anything the girl suddenly leaps out of her chair and grabs on to the teacher. She digs her teeth deep into the teacher's shoulder. Ms.Bop lets out a ear piercing screech. The girl sinks her teeth deeper into the skin.
One of bigger kids in the class stands up and swiftly rushes over to the girl. He pulls his fist back and takes a wild swing at the girl's face. Before his fist could reach the girl, the girl let go of the teacher and quickly ducked. On the teacher's shoulder was a deep, red gash. The girl rushed at the kid. He tried to kick the girl, but she grabbed his ankle and bit into it. The guy let out a scream. He fell onto his back with a thud. She let go of his ankle and looked directly at me. I felt the adrenaline course through my veins. I quickly stand up and run in the opposite direction. I rush out the door and into the hallway. Behind me I hear the whole room scream.
When I reached the middle of the hallway I stopped. I turn around only to be met with half of the class following my lead. Behind them was Ms.Bop chasing after them. Ms.Bop caught up to one of my classmates. She leaped onto her student's back. They both fell onto the floor; the teacher without hesitation bit down onto my classmates' shoulder. I heard the student scream. The teacher let go of her student and started chasing after another student. I didn't waste a single second turning around and running around. I sprint down the hallway. At the end of the hallway a teacher steps out of his classroom. He shouts at us to stop running. Everyone including me ignored him.
I turn a corner expecting some stairs to be there. Instead there was a railing that kept the students from falling from the second floor. Behind me were some people screaming for help. Without hesitation I run towards the railing and jump over it. My hands became sweaty as the floor quickly approached me. I feel the muscles in my legs tense up. Once my feet reached the floor I dropped into a roll. I stop for a second to check my surroundings. The school's entrance was right in front of me. Just a few more feet and I would be out of school. I just wish it could be in different circumstances though. I hear something hit the railing above me. I look up to see a body falling towards me. I jump to the side. The body hits the ground with a thud. I look closer at the to body see that it was one of the athletic kids in my class. His chest wasn't moving. I notice a chunk of his flesh missing from his arm. I feel my breakfast come up my throat. On instinct I accidentally swallow it.
Above me I hear a growl. I take one more look at the body before reluctantly sprinting towards the entrance. "Sorry buddy." As I rush towards the the front, the people at the front office shouted at me to come back. I ignore them and open the door anyway. Before I could take one step outside a loud roar echos throughout the room. I take a quick glance over my shoulder. The jock slowly gets back up onto his feet. He suddenly gets on all fours. In an instant he leaped towards me like a cat. It wasn't a few inches either, he manged to jump a good few feet towards me. I sprint out the door. I look around and notice the gate that was meant to keep people out of the school, but it felt like it was supposed to keep us in. I spot a group of kids near the gate. They were trying to use blocks of concrete to climb over the gate.I hear the door open behind me. Without hesitating I run over to the group of kids.
"Hey move! Move!" The group looked over in my direction. Their eyes widen as they see me getting closer. Most of the group scrambled away while some others stood still from shock. As I got closer the blocks of concrete I held in my breath. I jumped onto the concrete and put my hand on the top of the gate. I swung my legs over the gate and landed on my feet. Even when I hit the ground I didn't stop running. I ran few feet away from the gate before my legs felt like they were about to break. I took a quick glance over my shoulder, in the distance I see the jock from earlier run up to the gate and effortlessly jumped over the gate. He didn't even need to use the the blocks to jump over, he just jumped over it like it was nothing. The jock ran full speed towards me. Behind me were the group from earlier trying to climb over the gate. Their faces were drained of color. Parts of their flesh were either scratched or bitten off.
"Fuck." I sprint into the city hoping that someone would help me. It didn't take long for me to notice that no one would help me.. There were cars driving wildly some almost crashing into buildings, some others running around with weapons. I run into a nearby alley and notice that the side of the building. Beneath the fire escape was a dumpster. Perfect! I run up to the dumpster and jump onto it. I back up and run towards the wall. Before I ran into the wall, I jumped and put one foot on the wall, I use my foot to push myself up the wall. I grab the side ledge of the fire escape and pull myself up. I slowly make my way up to the top of the building. Thankfully there was a ladder leading up to the rooftop. Once I reached the roof I collapse to the ground. My lungs felt like they were on fire. My legs didn't feel much better, it felt like they were constantly being smashed with a hammer.
As I lay there on the ground I thought, "What the hell just happened?'
