Mike and I looked at some of Will's drawings. "Can you please stop that?" Mike asks El, who was playing with his walky-talky. "Are you deaf? I thought we were friends, you know? But friends tell each other the truth. And they definitely don't lie to each other. You made me think Will was okay, that he was still out there, but he wasn't. He wasn't! Maybe you thought you were helping, but you weren't. You hurt me. Do you understand? What you did sucks. Lucas and y/n were right about you. All along." Mike rants.
All of a sudden, Mike and I hear Will singing his favorite song from the walky. We spring up from the couch and over to El. She hands Mike the walky-talky. "Will, is that you? It's Mike! Do you copy? Over," Mike announces. "Will, are you there? Will!" Mike shouts.
"Was that... Was it..." I start. "Will," El smiles.

Karen got us cleaned up and put us to bed. She told us it would be best if we slept in the same room so we could comfort each other. I climbed into Mike's bed, lying next to him. "Mike?" I whisper. "Yeah," he croaked. "can I have a hug?" I ask, staring at the ceiling. Before I know it, I feel two arms wrap around me, I turn to face Mike, burying my head in the crook of his neck. We stayed like that until we fell asleep.
the next day
Mike and I went to his room. "Michael? Oh, hi, guys. How are you feeling?" Mrs. Wheeler asks, coming over to Mike's bunk as I was on the top one. "I don't think I can go to school today. Y/n too." Mike mumbles. "Oh, that's fine, sweetie. I need to drop off Nance, then I'm gonna check in on Barb's parents. Why don't you two grab some books and come with me? We can stop by the video store on the way back, pick out whatever you want. Even R-rated." Mrs. Wheeler suggests. "I think we just wanna stay home today. I mean, if that's okay?" Mike croaked. "Well, are you two sure you're gonna be all right here by yourselves?" She asks. "I think so," he whispered. "Okay. But if you need anything, call Dad at work," she sighs. "okay," we whisper. "Bye," we exclaim in sync. "Bye, sweethearts," she smiles before closing the door.
I climb down the bunk as Mike gets out of his bed. "Lucas, do you copy? Lucas, come on, I know you're there! This is urgent. I'm serious. I'm not gonna stop until you answer. Lucas. Lucas! Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, Lucas..." Mike continued. "Go away, Mike. I'm not in the mood, all right? Over and out," Lucas groans. "No, not out. I'm not messing around, okay? This is about Will. Over." Mike explains. "What about Will? You mean about his funeral? Over." Lucas asks. "No, not his funeral. Screw his funeral," Mike scoffs. "What?" Lucas nagged. "Just get over here stat. And bring Dustin. Over and out," Mike demands. "Are you sure we can trust her, Mike?" I ask, sitting on Mike's bed. "I'm hoping," He sighs, pulling me up and out of the room.
