"He said he was building something. That it was all for me," El explained, her voice raspy. "Building something... Is he talking about the Flayed?" I ask. "He must be," Nancy replied. "So, he's building an army, just like we thought," Lucas adds, pacing back and forth. "Yeah, but he's not building this army to spread." Mike starts, "He's building it to stop Eleven." Will continues. "Last year, El closed the gate on him. I have a feeling that really pissed him off." Mike began. "Like, royally," I add. "And the Mind Flayer now knows that she's the only thing that can stop him. But if she's out of the way--" Mike continued. "-Game over." Lucas interrupts. "He also said he was gonna kill all of you," El blurts. "Yeah, well, that's nice," Max exclaims sarcastically.
Nancy walks towards the window, "Do you guys hear that?" She shudders. "It's just the fireworks," Jonathan reassures her. "Billy... When he told you this, it was here, in this room?" Nancy asks, and El nods. "He knows we're here," Will exclaims.
We run outside and see trees rustling. Then, we see the Mind Flayer approaching the cabins. We run back inside.
Mike and I board up the windows with a bench while the others do what they need to do to get ready. "Yeah. That's good like that," Mike explains. "Hey, get away from the windows," Nancy orders. We walked to the middle of the room, standing in a tight formation. Various things in the house shook and fluttered, but there was no monster.
"It's close," Will blurts. I can hear branches snapping in the distance. All of a sudden, the rumbling stops. "Where'd it go?" I ask. Then, the creature's claw breaks through the wall and tries to grab onto El. Jonathan cuts it with an ax, but It flung him into the wall, he dropped the ax in the process. It started to go after him, but Nancy shoots it. It was about to eat Nancy after she ran out of bullets, but El used her powers to restrain it. All of a sudden, another tentacle broke through on the other side of the wall. El used her powers on that too. El closes her arms, snapping the monster's tentacles.
The monster comes through the roof and grabs my ankle, pulling me up. Mike quickly grabbed my wrist. I scream in pain as Mike grabbed both of my wrists, trying his best to pull me back down. El tried using her powers, but the creature was too strong. Mike pulled harder, and soon the others joined. "Nancy, shoot it," Jonathan yells. Nancy shot the Mind Flayer a couple of times, but it didn't do anything. "Come on! Lucas!" Max yells. Lucas takes the ax and starts chopping at the Mind Flayer. As Nancy and Lucas chopped and shot, it was weakening the monster. Lucas made one last cut, and the creature's tentacle that was pulling me up got separated from its mouth.
I landed on Mike, "Y/n, Y/n, are you okay?" Mike questioned. He looked down to see the monster still attached to my leg, he pulls it off, as I scream. I could see my blood trickling down my leg and staining my shoes and socks. El uses her powers to split the Mind Flayer in half, making it explode. Mike and Max help me as we rush to Nancy's car. "Drive! Drive!" Mike shouts.
Nancy broke the store's door with a rock as the glass shattered. We enter the store, I lost a lot of blood and was feeling dizzy, so Mike carried me. "Okay, get her down." Nancy orders as she grabs supplies. Mike carefully set me down on the ground. "Okay. Lemme see." Nancy pulls up my pant leg Mike made in the car, and I groan in pain. "Oh shit," Mike and Max gasp as I cry in pain. "What--what--Hey, what are you doing?" Max asks as Nancy began her process. "I'm cleaning the wound," Nancy shrugs. "No, first, we need to stop the bleeding, then clean, then disinfect, then bandage. I skateboard. Trust me." Max explains. "Mike, hold this," Max demands as Mike holds down a napkin against the wound. "Keep the pressure on it, nice and firm, okay?" Max explains as Mike holds my hand. "We're gonna need water, soap," Max tells Nancy and Jonathan, who get up to go find it. Lucas empties his backpack, "Does any of this help?" he asks. "No. Go get me a washcloth and a bowl," Max demands. "A bowl?" Lucas questions. "Lucas." Max grunts, "El, go with them." Max adds, El nods, walking away. Max had left to check on Lucas and Will because they were taking too long, leaving Mike and I alone.
"Does that hurt?" Mike questioned as he pushed down on the wound. "Uh, not bad," I explain. "You're gonna have an awesome scar. You'll look even more badass." He exclaims, "Bitchin," I smirk. "Yeah, bitchin." He chuckles, I crack a smile. "Y/n..." he blurts. "Yeah?" I look at him. "I've been meaning to tell you something. It's just, being broken up, it's been hard--" Mike began before we heard coming from the walky-talky, Mike ignores it. "And... I like that you Max and El are friends now. It's just, I was upset at first because you didn't believe me. And then you started hanging out with El, I was angry at first, and--and cold. And that's why I said all that stupid stuff. And it's like I wanted... needed you to believe me because I know I'm not lying. And now I realize how unfair that is because you were hurt that you walked in on that. You probably didn't want to believe me because you saw it. And I was being selfish because I thought you would immediately side with me. And, like... I'm sorry, for everything. I just, like, I've never felt like this, you know, with anyone before... and... You know, they do say it makes you crazy," Mike rants. "What makes you crazy?" I question, even though I know damn well what he's saying. "You never-- You never heard that term... You know, like the phrase, like... "blank makes you crazy," like the word..." he mumbled. "Girlfriend?" I ask, playing along. "No, no, no, no, not-- not girlfriends," He continued. "Boyfriends," I add. "No! No, no, not boyfriends either. It's like-- It's like a feeling or... Yeah, like something... Like, old people say it to each other sometimes," He stuttered. "Mike, what are you saying?" I laugh. "What I wanna say is... that I just... I know that I--" he started before getting interrupted by the walky-talky.
"I repeat... this is a code red!" It says. Mike scoots over and picks it up, "Dustin?" He speaks into it. "Mike?" "Dustin!" "Mike! Oh my god, you have to listen. I know I've been MIA, and I'm sorry-" Dustin continued to talk, but the signal went terrible, so it sounded fuzzy. "Dustin, you're going way too fast. I can't understand you." Mike explains. "And now--they're using--to open the gate." Dustin continued, not realizing we couldn't hear him. "Dustin, you're--you're breaking up. Dustin, you're cutting out." Mike spoke. "What is it?" Nancy asked, walking over to us.
