Xavier's POV

I knocked on the door for what felt like the thousandth time in the last minute. I sighed giving up sitting down on the floor resting my back against the door.

I emerged from Emerald's room earlier only to be told that Amelia was locked in her old bedroom making me immediately regret leaving. I just thought it would be a good idea for her to be around family.

"She just needs time," I heard a fimiliar voice say and I looked up to see her father, I was torn between which parent she resembled more. He sat down beside me handing me one of the beers in his hand, I took it saying a small thank you, before taking a quick mouthful.

"She talks about you alot," I mumbled looking down into the bottle as I remembered the countless conversation.

"I can only imagine...you know it's a miracle she survived, she was a little blessing," he whispered sipping his drink and I stayed quiet wanting him to continue.

"The doctors told us she wouldn't survive, she came early, only weighed five pounds but she was so bubbly and cheerful, always smiling. Her mother and I never left her side, we never gave up hope and look at her now" he added and I smiled.

"I love her..like it's insane just how much one person can-" I paused not really sure how to express myself using words and he chuckled.

"You're sitting on he floor in front her closed door, I think it's clear to say you love her," he mumbled amused.

"Don't forget the knocking," I replied just as amused sipping my beer making him laugh, I felt more comfortable around Amelia's family than I did my own.

"And the knocking," he chuckled standing up reaching into his pocket.

"The reason I told you that story is because, with time and love she always gets over whatever is thrown her way, and now that I'm a couple months away from death you have to be that constant rock for her, because if not she will carry the pain with her and pretend as if she is okay," he said handing me a key and I nodded sadden by reality.

"Thank you," I replied and by the weight of my words I knew that he knew I wasn't only referring to the key. He nodded walking off as I stood pulling the door, I closed it behind me, my eyes going to Amelia who was curled up in the sheets of her bed.

"Baby," I called out and I heard her sniffle.

"I'm okay," she mumbled and I chuckled at her useless attempt to convince me as I moved over to the bed sitting beside her.

"Come,"

"I'm fi-"

"Princess come here," I ordered softly and she lifted her body climbing into my lap, her eyes glossy and lashes wet from tears, I kissed her forehead my heart hurting at the sight. I tightened my hold on her slightly not really knowing what to do, I never really cared for anyone that much that I stayed to console them through hard times, so I was completely clueless.

"Relax, your not messing up," she whispered reassuring me, her voice almost unrecognizable and I chuckled at the irony, since I was the one usually reading her.

"You're here helping me, when that's what I came to do," I mumbled and she flashed me a sad smile, she sighed sitting up to straddle me resting her head against my shoulder. My hands moved to wrap around her back as our bodies relaxed against one another.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"There isn't really anything to discuss, my father is going to die and I can't do nothing about it," she mumbled and I frowned feeling completely useless, I'm supposed to be able to help, but-

"He said he's been doing chemotherapy and hasn't really seen a difference, Xavier I didn't even remember his birthday,"

"Baby don't do that, don't tear your self down in your process of grieving," I whispered kissing her forehead. I sat there listening to her stories of her father and her, before she finally feel asleep.

Amelia's POV

I opened my eyes watching Xavier who was standing by the door talking in a hush tone onto the phone, probably thinking I was still asleep. He turned his eyes meeting mine, I motioned for him to come to me and he did taking a seat on the edge of the bed. I moved over resting my head in his lap tuning out his conversation and enjoying his warmth.

"Are you okay?" I heard him ask, I didn't really know what or how I was feeling, but nonetheless I nodded and his hand moved to play in my hair.

"Even though you're clearly lying, I think what I'm about to tell you will brighten your mood," he added and I opened my eyes turning to look up at him.

"What?" I asked confused looking into his eyes.

"I made a couple calls and I have this friend, well less of a friend more of a business associate and he has been testing out a treatment plan for cancer, it has been deemed 75% effective after treating approximately 120 persons and I got your dad a spot, you just have to sign th-" He paused his finger moving to my cheek wiping away tears I hadn't realized were falling.

I sat up pulling into a hug, it was crazy the effect one person could have one you and your life. He was sometimes too good to be true, every minute I fell for him a little more, he-

"Did I say something wrong?" He asked pulling away to wipe my tears a frown on his face, I laughed pecking his lips.

"No Xavier," I whispered amused by his obliviousness.

"I'm just happy," I said and he sighed relief making me smile.

"You're so weird," I mumbled and he pulled me closer pecking my lips.

"Why can't you smile when you're happy like a normal human being, you're very confusing,"

"I'm a woman,"

"Precisely," he mumbled and I slapped his chest making him chuckle.

"You fell asleep crying last night, don't ever do that again please," he mumbled frowning his mood doing an 180°.

"I love you,"

"I love you too," he replied softly

I smiled kissing him softly he moved forward deepening the kiss pulling me over to straddle him, his hands gripping my ass. I reached from his pants and he pulled away chuckling.

"Your parents are in the under side of the wall," he pointed out and I smiled kissing him once more my hands moving to wrap around his neck.

"And?"

"Don't you think that's a little promiscuous?"

"Only if someone finds out,"
