The thunder rattled as lightning blinded the innocent Earth below. Both watch as warm bullets of rain pelted the ground without any remorse.
Emily found herself in a deep depressive episode as she stood in the middle of the rain, without any thought. Her clothes stuck to her body like a second layer of skin. Her fingers became wrinkled and cold to the touch. Her thick, wavy, copper hair was now flat and brown from the rain.
Why me? Emily thought to herself. Pure rage and hatred filled her empty soul out of nowhere. Her sad and hollow blue eyes shot up to the ominous sky as she screamed to the heavens above her.
"WHAT DID I DO?!" she wept. The wind began to pick up, whispering in her ears as it blew past her. She began to shiver from the now frigid wind blowing against her soggy body.
She began to weep harder in defeat. Her breaths became quick and shallow as she tried to catch her breath, coughing up the little pride that she had left. As she desperately gasped for air, her mind became fuzzy, and she fell to her knees.
Mud splashed in her face and on her chest upon impact, her knees sunk deeper into the muck. She threw her now muddy hands into her soaked hair and pulled the delicate strands until her scalp became numb. Her tears became hot against her freezing skin.
"WHY ME?!" she exclaimed again to the sky. Thunder shook the Earth beneath her in response, and lightning lit up the Earth once more. Emily looked down at herself, then back up at the sky, and closed her eyes as the rain hit her face like bullets.
From deep within her tainted mind, flashbacks came back to her.
The lies.
The pain.
But still, somehow, a part of her still missed the boy that caused her so much pain and suffering.
Emily saw herself alone in a room with him, her legs shaky as she walked towards him. Her sad eyes stared into his, and she felt no love in them anymore. She gently cupped his face as tears rolled down her cold cheek.
"I know this isn't real.." she said choking back tears. Her heart began to crawl up her throat as she tried to speak.
"But why did you do this to me?" she said quietly. There was no response from him, just empty stares into her eyes. Her lean fingers curled up into a fist, and without thinking, she punched him right in the jaw. He stumbled back, taken for surprise. Emily's tears began to constantly trickle down her face.
"WHY DID YOU FUCKING DO THIS TO ME?! WHY DID YOU RUIN ME?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH PAIN YOU-" she was cut off when he suddenly pressed his lips against hers.
Emily felt her heart shatter with every movement of his lips against hers. His warm lips against her frigid lips sent goosebumps down her spine.
Her heart and her soul were beyond confused on what to feel. It was so wrong, but it felt so right at the same time.
Emily?
She kept kissing him back.
Emily, wake up.
She began to smile while kissing him, her heart began to flutter, blush shot to her cheeks and she stopped crying. She opened her eyes to look into his, but instead of happy eyes looking back into hers, all she saw was him giving her a devilish grin.
"Just wanted to fool you again." he said as he raised his hand to strike her. Just as his hand met her delicate skin, thunder shook her back into reality.
She screamed and shielded her face with her arms. Jimmy was taken back, but then gently spoke to her.
"Emily, it's me love. " Jimmy said in a hush tone. Emily gently flickered her tear stained eyes open, and saw Jimmy leaning above her, protecting her from the elements. His jet black hair was now thin and dripping with the tears from heaven. His soft smile, and his welcoming eyes seemed even more angelic to Emily. Her pain filled eyes stared back into his gentle eyes.
Jimmy grabbed her hand, while she was still staring into his eyes, and lifted her up off of her knees and out of the mud.
The two lovers stood alone in the pounding rain, both now lost in each others eyes.
"I know there's a bad storm happening right now." Jimmy said as he tucked a strand of Emily's hair behind her pale ear.
"But I can see in your eyes, that there's a far worse storm happening in your poor head." he softly said. Tears began to overflow her eyes again, and she didn't even know what to do, she just cried. She threw herself into Jimmy's wet body and sobbed. Jimmy wrapped his long arms around her slender figure and held her close.
"Emily... look at me." Jimmy said in a hushed whisper. Emily quietly obliged and looked up. Jimmy placed both of his cold hands on each side of her fragile face, and pulled her in to his lips.
He kissed her gently, yet full of passion. She felt the love from his kiss flow through her pain stricken body, with each second of the kiss, healing some of her body. Emily began to kiss him back, hesitantly. Jimmy began to stroke her cheeks with his thumbs.
Emily's tears stopped flowing as she was brought back to reality. She kissed Jimmy back with thankfulness. As they pulled apart, the rain still poured.
Thunder shook the Earth, and lightning illuminated the darkness. Emily smiled at Jimmy, and he smiled back at her with his white teeth.
"Let's get you inside and warm love." Jimmy said while grabbing her hand and walking her towards the house.
