Chapter 13: Encounter

After what Riku did on Monday. He forced Tenma to ignore his friends and to come to the rooftop alone on lunch or some other time. Riku and his pals beat up Tenma every day and he is also not allowed to tell anyone. Or else he would face the consequences.

Aoi's POV:

A week has gone by and for some reason, Tenma doesn't want to talk to us or in a matter of fact, ignoring us. He would always go to the rooftop by himself and I don't know why. I was getting very worried. I was asking him what was wrong, but he never responded. He still goes to soccer practice, which was a relief. I also know something was wrong, not just me, but the others. During lunch, Tenma was packing his things and he left the classroom. Me and the others finished and went after him. I had to know why he is ignoring us. I saw Tenma walking down the hall, no one but us was there, so this was our chance to talk to him.

"Tenma!" I called out, but Tenma didn't respond, he just kept walking. I went after him and grabbed his hand.

"Could you just wait for a second, " I said, the others manage to catch up. Surprisingly Tenma stopped walking.

"What do you want?" Tenma asked. I was surprised that he finally talked. I let go of his hand.

"Why are you ignoring us?" Kageyama asked. Tenma didn't respond.

"If there is something, just tell us, " Tsurugi said. Still no response. It was silent for a while. But then Shinsuke broke the silence.

"Does our friendship not matter to you anymore?" Shinsuke asked in a sad tone. This shocked Tenma.

"It does matter, but" Tenma finally responded.

"If it does, then why don't you wanna talk to us?" I asked.

"Because I had to!" Tenma snapped, which shocked me and the others.

"I didn't want anything bad to happen to anyone, " Tenma added, "I'm sorry."

After Tenma said that, he ran very fast.

"Tenma wait!" I called out. But he turned to a corner and lost sight of him.

"Let's tell the others," Kageyama said. I nodded in response. The five of us went to the cafeteria and saw Shindou, Kirino, Nishiki, Midori, Akane, Ichino, and Aoyama, they were sitting at the same table. We went over to them and they noticed us.

"Oh, hey guys," Midori said.

"Hey there," I replied.

We sat down on the other seats and ate our lunch. We were silent for a bit, but I decided to break it.

"We encountered with Tenma," I said. this caught the attention of some of our seniors.

"Really? Did you talk to him?" Shindou-senpai asked.

"We did, but he said something really off," Kageyama said.

"What did he say?" Kirino-senpai asked.

"He said that the reason he is ignoring us is that he had to and that he doesn't want anything bad to happen to anyone," Shinsuke recalled what Tenma said.

"What does he mean by that?" Ichino asked.

"We don't know either, but we should try to find out," Kariya said.

"How are we gonna do that?" Aoyama asked.

"Well, you guys do know, he goes to the rooftop at lunch and after soccer practice," Nishiki said.

"Yeah, you're not planning on following him aren't you?" Midori replied.

"Well," Nishiki said.

After a few minutes, we decided to follow him after morning practice the next day. After soccer practice, Tenma left early and we told the plan to the rest. They agreed, but it was risky. The ones that will follow him is me, Shinsuke, Shindou, Kirino, Tsurugi, and Kageyama.
