Chapter 4: His Treatment

"Bakit kaya hindi mo subukang magtrabaho, Zac?"

We were having dinner when Lola spoke and asked that. Natigil sa pag-nguya ang maganang kumakain na Zac dahil sa narinig. Maging ako ay hindi napigilang matigilan. I mean, lola suggested something that I think we couldn't expect from a man like his alaga.

"Work?"

"Oo. Para naman may magawa ka habang summer. Puro hilata lang naman ang ginawa mo kanina, eh." Lola chuckled.

Pasimple akong tumingin kay Zac na hindi makapaniwalang nakatingin kay lola. The side of my lips rose at his expression. Predictable.

"No way, yaya." He said, disgusted. Nanlalaki ang mata neto na parang isang masamang bagay ang sinabi ni lola.

"Bakit naman?"

"Yaya, I don't do works! Kaya nga ako pinatapon ng bruhang si Ashley dito dahil hindi ko siya matulong tulongan sa trabaho niya. Because that's not my thing!" He scoffed.

"Susubukan mo lang naman, anak. Tingnan mo 'tong si Gulzz, kahit papaano ay may pinagkakaabalahan kahit summer."

"Well, I'm not like her, yaya." He sarcastically said. Uminom ako ng tubig at palihim na tumango sa sinabi niya.

Well, I have to agree on that one. We differ in many things. Pero I notice na may isa kaming pagkakatulad ng lalaking 'to. Persistence.

"Besides, hindi naman ako magtatagal rito. Sooner or later, aalis rin ako at babalik ng Maynila."

Nagkatinginan kami ni lola dahil sa sinabi neto at parehong napakibit balikat. Whatever his ways are, I hope he'll succeed. Para naman hindi masayang ang effort niya. Effort on something that I find so ridiculous.

Naunang pumasok sa kwarto si yaya at si Zac dahil naghugas pa ako ng pinag-kainan. Gawa ng katahimikan ng gabi, I heard a phone ringing and the next I've heard is his voice. And I didn't mean to eavesdrop but there was just not a single noice around except from his voice. So I overheard his conversation with, I assume, his friend.

"She talked to your father?" He said agitated.

"Fvck." I can imagine him running a palm on his face as he utter that, "Can't you do anything about it? I mean, help me out, Lad. I can't stand another day here. It's drivin' me insane!"

"How about Gino and---- they were also warned?!"

"Fvck. I'm going to kill that bitch! Hintayin niya lang talaga na makabalik ako dahil hinding hindi na siya sisikatan ng araw."

"If that happens, it's all her fault! She's the one who pushed me to have this murderous thoughts! Fvck her."

"Bus? You want me to ride a bus? I never ridden one, you fvcker! And how can I---"

"Damn, is that really the only way? You sure you can't really help me out? Sabihan mo kaya ang daddy mo na ako ang bahala? That he won't lose his investment and I would help him if he'd help me out."

"Fvck."

Ngumisi ako sa mga narinig. His persistence is really admirable. He's a, what-I-want-I-would-do-everything-for-it person. Even if it's time wasting, energy draining, and... well, frustrating.

Tinapos ko ang hinuhugasan at hinayaan na lang siya. Whatever he'll come up with, I hope he thought it out with proper logic and with rationality. Because if he fails and whatever he'll do cause him mishaps and casualties, I will forever label him stupid.
