Arriving at the police station was hard. I knew that the questions would be difficult to answer. I had to talk about the last moments I saw my best friend alive. No one would want to talk about something so personal and intimate with someone they don't know well.

"Welcome, Ms. Goodwin." The receptionist greeted me with a smile. I could tell she knew I would leave crying. Hell, even I knew I would. I couldn't speak. Knowing how hard this was going to be, all I did was smile.

I checked in and sat down. Vinny had come, too. He was also going to be interrogated since he was a close friend of hers. We were both terrified. We had nothing to hide, yet, my stomach churned like butter.

Five minutes later, I was called back. The detective walked up to me and took me back. I felt like I was at a doctor's office or the dentists.

The room was the same as every movie and tv show had portrayed. The gray room with the tiny table and the mirror that was secretly a window. It was all hitting me how serious this had got. Not only was she dead, but I could be a suspect.

"Alright. I'm Detective Doo. I am the lead detective in Kelly's case." I just nodded. I didn't want to say anything that could make me a suspect. This situation was terrifying. "I'm just gonna ask you some questions about the last night you saw her and your relationship with her." I nodded once again. "How long have you known Kelly?"

"Since we were very little. I have so many memories of us in elementary school all the way to the last time I saw her." His notepad begun to fill with words.

"What was your relationship with her?"

"We were roommates and best friends. She had been my best friend since we were 3."

"How was the financial part of the relationship?"

"Like how we paid for the apartment together?"

"Yes."

"We both paid half every month."

"So, she never covered for your rent sometimes?"

"I think there was a couple of times where my job fell through and couldn't afford to pay me that month."

"How come?"

"I work for a smaller business. Its a boutique on 5th."

"Can I get the name of that business?"

"Sophie's Closet." Detective Doo flipped his page over. My foot began tapping. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry if I act off. I'm just nervous about all of this."

"You're scared you're a suspect, huh?" I nodded and looked down at the table. "Well, I can tell you honestly that you are not one. Your alibi checks out perfectly. Right now, we are just needing information about her life." I exhaled. I hadn't even noticed I was holding my breath.

"Thank the lord."

"Anyway, what's your relationship with Vincent Holli?"

"He's my financè."

"When we interviewed you before, you said he was your boyfriend." I blush.

"I proposed this morning actually," I said quietly. I was slightly embarrassed. I was hoping this wouldn't put anything on me. Since my alibi checked out, I should have been good.

"Well, congrats." I nodded as a thank you.

The interview lasted for 2 hours more. It was exhausting. Luckily, Vinny and I got out minutes apart. I walked out and saw him waiting for me. His foot tapped violently and he looked concerned.

"Hey, baby. You all good?" He got startled and popped up out of his chair. He wiped his palms on his jeans. Not sure why.

"Yeah, just fine. Hey, why don't we go get some food." I nodded and smiled. Vinny placed his hand on my back and slightly pushed me out of the station. He had never acted like this before. I was so confused, but I figured the situation had just caught up to him as it did to me.

In the car, I played my favorite music. I wanted to relax. This was one of my many ways of doing so. Vinny continued to look nervous. I couldn't figure out why. He had been so strong in front of me. The interview might have messed him up a little.

We decided on going to Red Robin. It was one of our favorite restaurants. Also, I was craving a burger so bad. And their fries seemed perfect. Vinny felt the same way. After a while, he seemed to have calmed down. Maybe it was the music. I wouldn't know, though. The silence between us was perfect.

We were greeted and immediately sent to our table. I sat down and began looking at the assortment of options. Except, each time I read the description of one, I wanted to puke more. This was so unlike me. I loved Red Robin. Everything on their menu always seemed amazing to me.

"Lexi? You look really pale."

"Huh? I feel fine. I'm just gonna head to the bathroom real fast." I got up and ran. I felt the breakfast spring up from my stomach. I couldn't make it to the toilet. The closest I could get was the sink. I filled the sink up a third of the way. I braced myself against the counter.

"Oh goodness, sweetie. Let me get you someone." I heard this voice, but I never looked to identify who it was. Within a minute, the manager was there to help me. She got Vinny to wait outside the bathroom. Once I was able to walk without puking, Vinny took me to the car.

He said instantly, "I think you're pregnant."
