~*hey guys, so chapter 8 is here, hope you're happy.*~
Meghan had prepared herself for her old class's reaction, but nothing could have prepared her for what they did next.
The whole class was very silent, very stiff. Meghan held her breath for a really long time (she really didn't need to breath that much anyway). She wished she had sat in the front of the class instead of behind them, but now she was so tense, she couldn't move at all. Then, suddenly, there was a sniffing sound. And then another. And then another. And finally, the dam the whole class was trying desperately to hold secure had too much pressure with the water. And they all, at the same time, broke down. There were screams, there were sobs, there were people falling on the floor because they were so surprised and sad. Meghan heard a few people gasping for breath as though the news had knocked the breath out of them. Suddenly, Meghan could move. She leaped out of her chair and walked very, very slowly down the aisle of grouped tables, looking at the devastation she had created with her decision.
Her eyes wandered to her table-partner. His name was Tyler. She remembered how his golden hair fell perfectly over his face that halfway hid his perfect greyish eyes. His perfect-porcelain-white face was all scrunched up as he gasped for breath. His tears of agony and loss made no sound as he cried so hard, his perfect-white face was now a cherry red. Her eyes went to Delilah, the smartest girl in class. She remembered how her silky black hair was always pulled back into a tight side braid that draped over her shoulder, leaving nothing but a few stray strands of hair to wisp on the sides of her face. Now, her usual-blushing face was the whitest Meghan had ever seen. She was one that was screaming in horror at the shocking news of Meghan's death. Meghan's eyes then went to Jonathon. He was sitting strait as a board and his face was turning a deep blue. Meghan gasped in horror as she realized he was holding his breath.
"NO!" Meghan screamed as she jumped into his mind, tying to read the reason behind his actions.
"You shouldn't deserve to live." Jonathon told himself in his mind. "Meghan DIED because of YOUR actions and you need to pay a price for that. Just a few more minutes and it will all be over......"
"NO!!! JONATHON, NO!!!" Meghan screamed in his mind, hoping he could hear her, but he couldn't. She could only read their minds, not add to them or interfere with them. But she could, however.... She put her whole body in his and matched how he was seated. When she was sure it worked, she realized something. If she hadn't just acted, he would have died. His lungs were screaming as Meghan desperately inhaled and exhaled the sweet-cool air into his lungs. She knew this was the right thing to do. He couldn't die, too. Not Jonathon... When Meghan was sure his lungs were healthy and had enough oxygen in it, she hesitantly leaned out of Jonathon's body and took the piercing pain that went with it know she had saved a life that wasn't meant to be taken. She did, however, make a note to that in her mind. She could "possess" people but when she was out of them, the writhing pain was the sacrifice.
"That's probably why "ghosts" don't usually "possess" people. It brings them physical pain!" she exclaimed aloud. She had gotten used to not having to think inside her head anymore. Being alone did have its perks....
"If anyone can't control themselves or focus, there is a reserved room for people who wish to stay here. There is a bus outside if anyone wants to go home and deal with this situation themselves." Meghan's teacher announced with a tear-filled face. The whole class got up, some even helped others to stop gasping, and the all walked out to the buses together. All except Jonathon. He was still sitting there, staring. After about 5 minutes of sitting, Jonathon got up abruptly and simply walked out. Meghan followed, wondering where he would go. He walked out the doors and past the buses. He was walking to the road.
"Hmm...must live near the school. Probably doesn't want to be with the others right now." Meghan guessed as she turned to the bus for a ride home. As soon as she turned, there was a loud scream from the people on the bus.
"NO, JONATHON!!! NO!!!" his friends yelled.
Meghan turned around just in time to hear a car-horn beep, a skidding sound, the screams of Jonathon's friends, and the impact. And within those 10 seconds, Jonathon was dead.
