Everything happened so fast. Meghan didn't even have time to realize what he was doing until he was.....gone. The air was warm yet she felt cold on the inside, as if she was made of ice. A wave of loss swept through her body, making her fall to her knees at the bloody scene just a few yards away from her. There were students screaming, crying, and gasping for breath again. There were teachers trying to calm them down, but with little luck due to the fact their faces were smeared with tears as well. Meghan stood up to look at them all; knowing that this was her fault. It was her who made everyone cry and plead and curse. It was her fault that her mother was all alone in this world, now. It was her fault that Jonathon had died. Then she remembered Jane.
She knew she had to make sure she didn't meet the fate of Jonathon. Taking a deep breath, Meghan walked onto the bus with everyone else, taking a seat in the back with Jane. Jane was curled up in a ball on the seat with her whole body shaking and red. Everyone finally was in the bus and it started moving. Jane snapped up and looked longingly out the window at what was left of her boyfriend as they drove away.
Meghan could still hear people screaming, gasping, and sobbing and she flinched every time a high-pitch scream broke through the crowd. It was chaos. And it was all because of that small decision she made in her mom's room that one day when she was alone. That one little action. And life was hell. No, death was hell. Life for her was an evening float down the river compared to what she had to witness now.
The bus was getting closer and closer to Meghan's house and she was thinking about getting off to check on her mother, but she didn't know where Jane lived and she had to make sure she didn't do anything drastic. The houses went by as she contemplated on what to do. At first, she hadn't realized Jane had risen from her seat until the bus was almost leaving her house. Meghan quickly jumped out of the bus walls and hurried to catch up to Jane. Her house was gorgeous! It should have been on a magazine or one of those TV shows her Meghan's mom used to watch. It had soft baby-blue siding, a black roof, black shutters, a matching black rot-iron porch, and a huge garage which matched the house and housed two cars Meghan had seen in a rich-person magazine. They were about $80,000 each!
Meghan walked swiftly behind Jane, staring in awe at the......the CASTLE she lived in! She hadn't realized Jane had stopped walking until she went through her. Jane shivered. Meghan looked back to see her hesitating.
"C'mon, Jane!" Meghan willed her on. "I know it seems bad, but you should know I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry about all this. About the pain and Jonathon. But you just need to keep going."
As if she could hear her, Jane walked on into her house. She closed the door in Meghan's face, but she didn't mind. After all, she couldn't see her and she could just go through it.
The inside of Jane's house was glorious. It had all the newest designer furniture with a flat-screen TV the size of a wall! Jane's mom was sitting on the pure white couch in the open living room. She had raven-black hair that matched Jane's, striking green eyes (also matching Jane's), and she had in her hand.....a....rolling pin?
"What are you doing here?!" her perfect mouth screamed at Jane.
"Meghan......died.....last night. We were.....aloud to...go....home." Jane fumbled with her words. Meghan had never seen Jane like this. She stared at her in pure shock at how timid Jane seemed right now. It made her jump when her mom replied with her screams.
"Well, it won't do us any good with you here, now would it?!" she screeched. "You're already a nuisance when you're normally here, do we have to banned to hell when we get extra time with you?! I can't even look at you right now; I didn't have you to be thanking the lord when you leave! You're supposed to be PERFECT!!" she screamed, pushing the stainless-steel coffee table over and kicking a few plants over in their white vases. "Of course, heaven forbid I have anything go right. The only good thing was when your father died and left me with all his money! But he left me with YOU!! YOU, OF ALL PEOPLE!!!!"
"I'm sorry...." Jane mumbled.
"Well at least quit your sagging! It's embarrassing, it's like I have a bent twig as a daughter." She boomed, spitting out the word "daughter" like it was a curse. She ran forward, raising the rolling pin above her head. Jane flinched away, ducking under her mom's arms and over to the other wall behind her. Her mom swung around, fire in her eyes. Her porcelain-white face was curled into a scary scowl. "You shouldn't have done that! Get back here!!!" She screamed, running to Jane again. Jane tried to duck away again, but she was a second too late. Her mom grabbed her shoulder and through her into the wall. Jane was disoriented. Her mom pinned her down with one hand and with the other, she nailed her on the side of the head with the rolling pin. She hit her in the arm and got up. Jane stumbled to get up but when she was on her hands and knees, her mom hit her in the back. Jane screamed in pain and finally she got enough traction on the slippery hard-wood floor to stumble to her room, close the door, and lock it.
Meghan ran down the long hall and jumped through the door to her. She found Jane in her ginormous room, huddled in the corner. She had her arms around her arms and she was sobbing. Meghan walked to her to see how bad her wounds were. Jane had blood coming from the side of her head, there looked to be a small fracture in her right arm, and her back seemed to have the most damage. Meghan couldn't quite pinpoint the wound, but her back was turning a deep purple-black color and it was getting puffier by the second. Meghan could, however pinpoint the others due to her mother's job, a doctor. She had picked up a few things, her and there. She knew how to heal them, as well. She just had to find a way to get Jane to do it..... There was a loud bang on the door. Jane and Meghan turned their heads to the door. It was bending in!! Jane cried in terror as she, too, realized what was about to happen. Meghan looked around; frantically trying to find something she could do to block the door. But it was too late....
The door gave out and Jane's mom came crashing into her room. All seven of the locks Jane had on her door flew all over the room. Jane whimpered as her mom's head whipped around, looking for her. Her eyes of pure fire landed on Jane and she ran to her. She jumped on her and smacked her in the face with the rolling pin. Meghan gasped in horror but knew what she had to do. She sprinted to Jane and matched how her body was formed.
The pain of the wood stung her whole body, but she managed to get up and try to run for the door. But she was a second too late. Jane's mom grabbed her ankle and yanked her back. She got on top of her and landed a blow on her arm. Meghan heard a snap. She couldn't focus on that right now, if she didn't act quickly, Jane was going to die. Jane's mom landed a sharp, heavy blow on Jane's head and her body went limp.
"NO!!! No, no, no, no, no...." Meghan screamed as she was thrown out of Jane's body. Jane's mother got up and raised the rolling pin triumphantly over her head. And with one more blow she, hit Jane in the head and it was over. There were no sounds in the room except for Jane's mom's heartbeat. But not Jane's. All was silent.
